I don't believe it is a 5 star hotel. The rooms were old and basic.

Sofitel is now overrated! The view was superb, but the hotel is so old, e.g. the shower was leaking all night making drop sound making impossible to sleep. It was smelling the wet dog in the room and the room looked like we were in the 80s...not impressed. The only memorable was the stunning view but that has nothing to do with the hotel!

What a horrible experience at a dirty old unkept hotel. Don’t even consider eating at the restaurant, possibly the worst restaurant food I have ever had.

Great hotel location and excellent view from the hotel room. Very convenient, walking distance from the beach. The restaurant and the Bar has great view. We stayed in other Sofitel location and it was excellent , base on that we booked this location and it was good ( not great). Breakfast buffet was not five star

We arrived to this hotel late (approx 1145pm), confirmed for a room with 2 twin beds but when I arrived, I was told by Hakim (sp?) only a king room was available (for two adults). The consolation offer was a king room, and they'd provide a rollaway in a 'premium' room for 1 night, until a 2 twin was cleaned the following day. We checked into the King room that was described as a premium upgrade to find it overlooked a cement parking lot, and was directly facing a nightclub which was blasting music (remember, it's almost midnight by this time). We slough our bags back downstairs to the lobby to request another room, and are given a standard king room (bye bye, upgrade). Upon inspection, the room had not been cleaned as there were wet face cloths on the bathroom counter, used hand soap, and used coffee amenities. We again venture back to the lobby now to request a THIRD hotel room. Hakim seemed very perturbed at my request for the clean and quiet hotel room I paid for and expected from Sofitel Marseille. His question to me was "what would you like me to do?" you can imagine my frustration being on the opposite end of his seemingly nonchalant demeanor. I was given keys to a third room, and you guessed it, the room was unusable. Hair in the shower, used water carafe glasses, and the mini fridge was leaking water into the hallway. Long story longer, I was fully refunded for this nightmare, after threatening to dispute the charge with my creditor. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Lovely location with great staff in reception & on the Sky Bar Hotel is looking tatty & needs modernisation especially in the rooms with balcony

Very nice hotel. Good decor, clean and efficient with very helpful staff Great location in the Vieux Port area of Marseille. Walkable sights to see from this hotel.

We had an amazing view of the port from our room. It was a decent walk to the dining and shopping area. Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice and helpful. Only one little complaint was the water during our shower was a bit inconsistent-extremely hot back to normal. Overall ,we had a great stay.

This hotel has a lovely view of the old port as it is located down one of the sides. This location also means that it's quieter at night. The staff were very professional and courteous. The room was a good size; I enjoyed the balcony.

The reason I didn't rate it high in cleanliness, The pool and the spa definitely need work. There were tiles missing in the spa. I don't think all of the Jets were working. It definitely doesn't look like the spot on the web page. And the outdoor pool had slime all around the water line. I didn't go in because it didn't look like they clean it on a regular basis. In my room the skirt to the bed had spots on it, but the actual bed and sheets were perfectly clean. The bathroom seemed very clean and the towels were amazing!! I was unaware of a deposit required for each night even though I had paid for my room in full. So that was a bit of a surprise and I'm still waiting for the refund on that. The breakfasts were delicious. And the portions for room service are huge!! The food was really good. I had a view of the port with my own terrace. The terrace had two lounge chairs and room for a breakfast table and chairs. That was a nice plus! Overall, it was a really fantastic experience. There was a gentleman that helped me with dinner reservations. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name but he was very helpful and kind and his reservation recommendation was spot on. Thank you

I think this hotel is not good for high class visitors but it was acceptable level for general people.

Excellent service at the rooftop bar from Breno. Thank you very much for making us feel welcome and your cocktail recommendations. We had delicious breakfasts each morning, and Nour was very friendly and attentive. We cannot wait to come back
