There aren’t many hotel options in Førde, but Scandic Sunnfjord is a large and well-established hotel that clearly plays an important role in the town. It has a spa and pool area, hosts concerts and events, and even has a nightclub, so it’s easy to imagine this place as a long-time social hub in the region. Check-in was smooth and efficient. That said, this is my third recent Scandic stay where the staff initially said, “You haven’t paid for breakfast, would you like…?” before realizing I’m a True Friend member. It’s a bit odd that this isn’t more clearly flagged in the system, since breakfast is included and we therefore don’t book it separately. That said — credit where credit is due: my status was clearly acknowledged with a major room upgrade, and that absolutely deserves praise. I was given a very large room with a sofa, armchair, large bed, spacious bathroom, and even a small balcony. This is the best upgrade I’ve ever received at a Scandic, so that’s a big plus. The room had plenty of space for luggage and clothes, a refrigerator, a proper desk if you need to work, and lots of power outlets both by the bed and elsewhere. The seating area worked well, the bed and duvet were very good, though I would have liked one slightly larger pillow. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. The room could be made completely dark, which is excellent. Noise-wise, it was very good overall. Some background humming and occasional hallway noise, but my room was far from the elevators and facing a back courtyard, meaning zero outside noise. The main issue was temperature — the room was too warm, and I couldn’t figure out how to properly adjust it. So while light and sound were great, temperature pulls the overall sleep quality down to average. Breakfast was a highlight. This was the best Scandic breakfast I’ve had in the past year. Proper scrambled eggs (not the usual porridge-like version), perfectly cooked bacon, and a solid selection overall. Like many hotels these days, there’s still a fair amount of semi-processed food, and breakfast standards in general feel lower than they used to be — but I left full and satisfied. One practical detail worth mentioning: The hotel offers free parking for guests, which is a big plus. However, when I arrived at 00:30 and just wanted to get to bed, the parking lot appeared to be completely full. I ended up parking on a neighboring lot, which cost me 230 NOK for eight hours — an unpleasant surprise late at night. And after checking out I realized I was owing about $50 for parking two days, even though I had registered for free parking. A completely mess, but I got a refund for the parking. Conclusion: Choices in Førde are limited, but Scandic Sunnfjord is a solid and reliable option. Strong on room size and breakfast, slightly weaker on temperature control and a few things that not that important. 4/5 – a good stay, and the best all-round choice in Førde.

Very disappointing experience. The room was old and poorly cleaned — dust, stains, and a torn curtain. The children’s bunk bed had no ladder, which made it unsafe and inconvenient. The corridors and carpets were visibly dirty. The pool area was also not clean, and people were walking there with shoes, bringing dirt into the water. The sauna was not working consistently. The only positive thing was the breakfast, which was good but standard for Scandic. Overall, the hotel does not meet expectations.

The reception process took a bit of time, including answering phone calls during check-in. When I entered the room, it seemed that the trash from the previous guest had not yet been cleared, and the bed sheet was placed inside-out. The room could also benefit from better sound insulation. Some of the ceiling panels above the swimming pool appeared to be coming loose, which looked potentially unsafe. The pool was quite cold, and unfortunately, the sauna was not available during my stay. On the positive side, both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant featured a nice variety of dishes, and the flavors were quite enjoyable.

Found my reserved room very very dirty and AC is not working and bathroom is very dirty and sofa has many scratches. So, I contacted booking and they are not responding so I went back to reception and complained and asked for upgrade to a better room with AC. They gave me better room after I have paid for the upgrade and we checked in. AC was not working but the receptionist told us that I just need to switch it on which I did, but never worked. I went to reception three times and finally told me that the AC is not working and within one hour it will start, but unfortunately never worked!!! Why do I have to pay for better room and I was told that AC is working while they know it will never!? Our stay was horrible and I am very disappointed and frustrated by this hotel and Booking !!!!!
