Appeared to be a little run down in parts. Carpets upstairs were dirty and stained. Bedrooms were clean and had hair dryer and irons/boards. Beds were very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were lovely and welcome after travelling in the heat. Towels provided. Staff were friendly and helpful. Did not eat there but had a drink. Prices were astronomical £27 for 4 lagers. Despite that would use again.

Good for the location where I needed to be. Just in my budget for work. Room I was in was a little tired in places, but clean and tidy. Breakfast is expensive so didn’t have any. Pool was good and had a swim. Staff were very friendly.

The Mercure Hotel in Hull is a lovely old building with decent parking and a nice, spacious entrance hall. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was okay. There were clearly lots of functions taking place, which gave the hotel a busy atmosphere, but thankfully we could not hear any of this from our room. The room itself was a good size, but very basic. To be fair, the price does reflect that; however, the room was not very well maintained. The property is clearly old and now needs proper renovation. For example, the towel rail fell off when I put a towel on it, the toilet did not match the rest of the bathroom suite, and the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. It felt like parts of the room had been cheaply refurbished rather than properly improved. The bed was squeaky, the TV was tiny, and the coffee facilities were very basic. Overall, it should probably be marketed more clearly as a budget hotel. That said, it has real potential. With some investment, better maintenance and a more thoughtful refurbishment, it could be so much more. It was obviously a busy hotel, which is a good sign, but it could definitely be better.

Plenty of parking spaces. Food was good. Not enough wardrobe space in junior suite. Junior suite was totally under utilised for the space they gave us. Staff were quite helpful. Over all a good stay. Would recommend.

Breakfast choices were excellent. Parking was adjacent and plentiful. All staff we met were good. The room (139) felt a bit weary, the beds not particularly comfortable. The shower was over a bath, ok, but the bath sides were very high for people with stiff legs. One lamp was not working, the toilet flush handle was loose on the wall. Nothing dreadful but could be improved.

Room was large and pleasant enough but absolutely awful night sleep due to a very noisy radiator next to the bed through the night. Very disappointing for the price paid.

Great stay, really friendly staff, good breakfast mushrooms were particularly great. We used swimming pool and steam room which were tired but great to use.

I managed to unfortunately walk in the back way. I walked through the car park. It was strange as there was no signage and just followed arrows for reception. The guy on reception looked like I was an inconvenience and very dismissive. He said the bars over there and the restaurants over there. Barely a welcome and then told me the lift was out and right. He could have said it’s to the right by the stairs. Because I got lost. He never told me about breakfast or anything else. The room was excellently cleaned but it had stains on the carpet which were off putting and a stain on the chair. The cleaning staff were clean and efficient. The breakfast room staff were amazing and helpful. And friendly. Breakfast itself was good. Lots to choose from and easy to get to. Hot and cold available. The reception staff when I checked out were friendly and chatty and asked about my day like they cared. In some areas there needs to be a bit of renovation but other than that a pleasant stay.

Good breakfast. Stayed in the family room which was very large. Pool area is very poor unfortunately. Lots of missing tiles on the bottom of the pool is quite dangerous. A child from another family cut his foot whilst walking on the pool. Restaurant OK. If you need somewhere to stay for a hundred quid or less, then this place is fine. Don’t expect anything fancy though. It must just be clinging to the 4 star rating, felt very much like a 3 star.
