Arriving at hotel outside looked a bit worn. But when i entered the hotel i could see it was under a refurbishment, this did not affect my stay, as the rooms were great, large bed, tv very clean bathroom. I would definatly stay again

The hotel had no hot water, and deliberately didn't disclose this at check-in. When we spoke with reception in the morning, they told us they knew about the issue the night before and just hadn't told us. We asked for confirmation in writing and were told that the receptionist couldn't do this because it was the end of his shift. When challenged on this, he then changed to "the manager won't be here until 9". Later in the evening, the same employee refused to provide anything in writing and assured that we'd get a refund when they were contacted by Hotels.com. They're now refusing any efforts by Hotels.com to contact them. In addition to all of this, the room smelled like cigarette smoke, had no overhead light in the main area of the room, and was old, dated and in poor shape. The beds were very uncomfortable. Definitely would not recommend. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in for both quality and service.

It was ok, needed a bit more attention to detail… just one cup in room for two, bathroom needed a bit more cleaning, base of bed bigger than the mattress etc but it was fairly cheap and ok

Not to the UK standards. Basic items that you expect were missing. Bath mat, a working iron board

Budget hotel - great for a work week in a great location. Very friendly staff. Quiet. Clean and comfortable. The Brentwood pub down the road was fantastic - very cheap meals which were excellent.

I stayed at the Carlton Park Hotel on a Saturday night with my wife and her brother. We booked a family room which had a double bed and a single bed, and for the price, it wasn’t too bad. The hotel is a bit outdated, but for a quick and affordable stay, it did the job. When we first walked into the room, there was a bit of an odd smell, but it wasn’t anything unbearable, and we got used to it. The room was also really hot when we arrived, with the radiators cranked up to the max. I’ve seen some past reviews mention cold rooms, so maybe they were trying to compensate for that. Once we turned down the heat and opened the window, the temperature was more comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the shower worked just fine. It wasn’t anything luxurious, but it got the job done. The bed itself was okay—comfortable enough for the night—but the pillows were a bit flat, and there was only one per person, which wasn’t ideal. The view from our window was a little disappointing, though. Looking out across the garden, we could see a window that was falling apart and some wood stacked nearby, which didn’t really add to the aesthetic of the place. That being said, for the price we paid, it wasn’t a disaster. The TV worked fine, and it was a decent, no-frills place to crash for the night. If you’re just looking for an affordable layover or somewhere to sleep for the night, this place works. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels that offered the same level of comfort, so I was pleasa

Very dated property. Cleanliness is a major issue with stains and mould all over. But the price was cheap, so that’s probably why. Better to get another place to stay at unless you need a cheap place to stay for the night for any events in Sheffield.

Overall very good value. The room was clean, however there was no toilet roll, the toilet had dirty marks in the water part of the toilet. There was a big wheelie bin sitting in the disabled parking when I arrived which meant I needed to park slightly further away. The staff at check-in were helpful but I had messaged the hotel 3 times before I arrived and I never received a response.

Upon arrival the first thing that struck me was how shabby the exterior of the building looked. The doorway we headed to was indeed boarded up! It looked incredibly dated. After entering through a different doorway we were facing the reception where the hotel receptionist took some details and gave us our key. Our room was first floor. Upon entering our twin bedded room the first thing that struck me was the small size, this followed immediately by the smell of cigarettes and what i can only describe as a musty odour. The decor in the room was incredibly dated, the windows were filthy, the furniture was tatty, and the wallpaper looked damp. Not great at all. The bathroom was awful. Mould around the shower head, around the taps, around the bath etc. Looking into the toilet i was greeted with, nasty looking stains. I did my best to not touch the shower curtain at all. On a slight positive the bed linen looked ok. Only one pillow however. The tea making facilities were basic, though one of the cups were dirty. In hindsight i should of demaded another room or full refund following all of the negatives. Some friends joined us for our last day. They were given a room on the ground floor and were only staying for one night. They were greeted by a worse situation than ours! The carpet in places was actually damp, with black mould, one wall in particular was wet, wallpaper peeling. They even had mould on the bed sheets! Trully horrific, i'll never forget this hotel.
