We didn’t get to stay at the hotel. Upon arrival there was a note on the door that the hotel was closed and to go next door. No notice from Expedia or the hotel in advance. You have to know a few days before you just close a hotel for renovations!! We did end up staying next door. Quality Inn. Took about 45 minutes to get checked in. She could find where I paid on Expedia. She was helpful and apologized. Room was newly remodeled and very nice. Reviews of this hotel was why we didn’t book Quailty Inn to begin with Because they were terrible. I would stay here again. Apparently both hotels are owned by same company and were finishing remodel on Charleston Tower. Disappointed that we were not notified in advance.

The hotel was shut down for renovations. They did not answer phone (it rang out) or forward calls to the hotel next door where one of the two rooms we reserved had been transferred. Very poor processing. The stay at the Quality Inn next door was good once they gave us the 2nd room.

Arrived at the Charleston Tower hotel to find it completely empty. A sign on the door said the hotel was shut down for renovations and that our reservation would be honored next door at the Quality Inn. We received no prior email, call, or text from either the hotel or Expedia informing us about the situation!!! The staff at Quality Inn were friendly and efficient but the parking lot was unsecured and adjacent to a homeless mission. When leaving the next morning, there were numerous homeless people in the area as well as a few that had set up temporary overnight shelter in the parking lot of the hotel!!! It was not like this the previous afternoon when we were checking in. We didn’t have any problems but this issue certainly needed to be mentioned. On top of that, there were never any cars or workers present at the Charleston Tower hotel which leads me to believe that there are no renovations taking place either!

Our room was fine and had easy access to downtown Charleston. I wasn't impressed with the condition of the hotel, particularly the elevators. The slot next to the working controls is boarded up and the working elevators are in need of cleaning. Continental breakfast was in the hotel next door. While we were there it was almost constant hangout / drug usage across the street (at least it wasn't in the hotel parking lot) and as we were leaving a girlfriend/boyfriend dispute from someone who had stayed at the hotel got loud with plenty of shouting. It didn't seem that out of character for the clientele.

Property in state of disrepair. Only one elevator working. Breakfast and fitness outsourced to neighboring Quality Inn hotel.

First of all they changed their name to best western so we spent an extra half hour trying to find the place. The reception, room and halls we updated beautifully. But the one elevator that worked for 8 floors was very dangerous and had not been inspected since January 2024. There was an ice machine on every floor, only 2 worked. Breakfast was in the motel next door. The neiborhood was scary and they overcharged us by over $50

The room is as clear as the picture. The neighborhood has been passed by and the hotel and parking lot are run down. The people were nice and friendly. The wifi does work well.

With this hotel, you get what you pay for. It is an older hotel, so there are some expected shortcomings. They are in the process of renovating but there is a long way to go before it is completed. Pros: price, location, updated and clean rooms, friendly staff, free parking, free wifi. Cons: outside is in very poor condition, only one working elevator and it working is a stretch, hallways are hot and humid, housekeeping left bags of trash and dirty sheets from multiple rooms in the hallway overnight, their website says free breakfast but there was none and we was told to go to the hotel next door for breakfast. Not a terrible stay for the price but be aware of why the price is cheap.

The hotel was nice the pool and gym was closed and we had to switch rooms due to a bug problem other than that the staff was nice and funny and it was quite comforting

Found an open package of men’s hair treatment under the bench in the room. Homeless people fighting in the parking lot. Altogether, the hotel was pretty clean though, staff was really nice, and it was very close to downtown

I arrived at the hotel at 7:00pm after driving all afternoon. There was a lobby full of people. The rooms were not ready. (check in was supposed to be at 3 PM.) I waited almost 2 hours in the lobby for my room and then when I finally was able to get a room, it was not the king-size bed that I had reserved. It was two doubles. Also, the breakfast area, where the continental breakfast is, still had not been cleaned from the morning. There was food still in the trays!! (and by this time it is 9:00 at night!) The waffle irons were covered in batter stuff all over the counters tables were not wiped.

Check-In staff were all excellent; very friendly and personable. Lobby area was clean and presentable. My room was very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was attentive and friendly. My only negative was the condition of the elevator. It functions, but could use a refresh. I was somewhat disappointed that the continental breakfast was moved to the neighboring hotel. The other time I stayed here the breakfast was in this hotel and it was much nicer than next door. Not a big deal. I really like the location as I can walk to restaurants downtown. I would recommend this hotel to friends (but I would warn them about the elevator lol).

The bathroom door wouldn’t close, they were renovating an elevator and the other elevator was awful. The vending machines didn’t work so we couldn’t get any drinking water. The ice machine didn’t work. The breakfast that we were supposed to have access to at the hotel next door was completely void of food an hour before it was supposed to be over. The staff seemed friendly enough, but the hotel should be closed until the renovations are complete. And on more than just the elevator.

The first room I got the fire alarm in the room was chirping and just needed a battery. I asked and she moved me to a different room. The next room, the toilet didn’t work and wouldn’t flush. The best part was the bed and it being comfortable or I was just tired and any bed would have done the job.
