Absolutely loved the boutique style hotel, the front desk staff was so sweet and they were awesome with accommodating us with a late check out while we finished some work. Would definitely recommend. :)

4/5 – Beautiful hotel, but not a 5-star experience for the 5-star price. The Lafayette has great style, solid 24-hour food, and amazing overnight staff — one even walked us to the elevator, which was a rare and appreciated gesture. Please give the guy a raise as I’ve never had that at a hotel. But for what I paid (about $490 total with room, valet, food, and one drink), it fell short on value. Valet isn’t 24/7, so we couldn’t get our luggage at check-in and had to track it down in the morning ourselves — despite already being charged for valet and the room. Food was tasty but not exactly what I ordered, and was left on the floor instead of on a cart. Espresso tonic in the café was great, but a little orange peel garnish would’ve made it special. Stirred a simple in-room drink, which was cool as I get to bartend in my room — just not $29 cool. For that price, I could’ve stayed at the Madonna Inn (which has free parking) and gotten a more complete, iconic experience. Who cares if it’s downtown — that shouldn’t justify premium pricing without premium service. Great hotel, but it needs better follow-through to match the cost. I’d stay again because I liked the vibe and staff, but it’s pricey. I hope next time I get to enjoy the pool, bowling, bars, and other amenities. Hopefully they up their game so the experience matches the cost.

i had previously been to the pool bar at the lafayette and since then have wanted to stay here. and i could not have made a better choice! we had a blast, went to Lou Lous, bowling, chilled at the pool, and never really had to leave the hotel. While on the pricer side, the charm and detail in each corner of this hotel makes it a truly magical and unique place. Will definitely stay here again, recommend 10/10.

This is such a cool hotel! It has everything from a 24 hour diner, awesome Mexican restaurant, speakeasy style bar with games, a jazz club, super cool lobby car, pool and great pool bar / restaurant. The room and hotel decor is so unique! You don’t have to leave - it has it all!

The staff was very accommodating and friendly, the music in the diner and around the pool was too loud so it was hard to talk above it. The lighting inside some areas of the hotel was very dark making it hard to see in the lobby, restaurant and guest room. No room service available and ice available only in the lobby. The decor was around the hotel was very interesting. The food overall was very good.

This is a fun and funky, maximalist property. It is party central from 4pm to 1am. I would not recommend it if you are traveling with children. The diner is fantastic.

This is the most amazing hotel in so many ways! The lobby and bar are gorgeous and interesting. The 24-hour diner is so fun. The pool is beautiful and the rooms around it are so cool. It looks like New Orleans. Also, the staff could not be nicer. But the show-stopper is the mini bar inside the rooms. They are too incredible to perfectly describe but they include full bottles of every type of alcohol, vintage recipe cards, all the tools for making a perfect cocktail, all on an ornate cart with gold snakes as drawer handles. The rooms also have retro kettles and gorgeous glassware. It's so unique! One note - some of the rooms are so close to the club that the noise is deafening. Don't stay in these or you will be up all night!

Wonderful spot. 3 suggestions for “excellent” rather than “great”: 1-check and repair non-functional outlets in guests rooms 2-provide Kleenex 3-provide more than one tiny trash can in the bathroom - a larger one by the desk would be good.

The property is definitely worth a visit. It’s cool and funky, fun and energetic. I would caution that it’s not necessarily family friendly in that the pool is like that of the casino where a lot of people that are not staying there come to party loudly. The pool is very crowded. It’s a very hot spot to visit, which was not good for family. It wouldn’t be appropriate to have children Out there, especially on the weekends.

We stayed here because of its close location to North Park and excellent reviews, drawn by its charming style, (although it was actually more like a bordello). While the décor is indeed unique and visually striking, it felt overdone to the point where almost every vertical and horizontal surface was covered with hotel-provided decorations. This leaves very little space for guests to store personal belongings, with almost no room for clothes or drawers—making the stay less comfortable. As guests in our 60s, we found ourselves significantly younger than most other visitors, who were mainly there for lively events. Multiple bachelorette parties took over the hotel, and by Friday evening, the entire lobby turned into a nightclub with loud music pounding from the basement. The atmosphere was far from quiet or peaceful, making it difficult to get any restful sleep. The front desk staff did their best, accommodating us by relocating us to the quietest room available, but overall it was still a disappointment in terms of noise and rest. Given its party-centered environment, the Lafayette Hotel and Club feels more like a nightclub with rooms rather than a relaxing hotel stay. Considering this, a rename would better reflect the hotel's true character, perhaps to something that highlights its nightlife focus rather than the more traditional "hotel and club" feel it currently presents.
