First impression was that it looked run down, poorly maintained. There was no heating in our room. Left part of socket was faulty so two electric heaters which they brought did not heat, initially. Eventually we had heating in the radiator because we were told the boiler wasn’t working. The carpets, particularly in the corridors looked filthy, although they had been hoovered, really disgraceful. Bedroom curtains hanging from rail plus a large crack in the window. No tv instructions and tv not easy to operate. No cooked breakfast, limited choice, particularly bread. Sliced white bread only, no bread rolls and croissants only available on the second day. Juice diluted. Coffee luke warm.Poor quality. Very limited choice of cereal. We have spent many breaks in The Honest Lawyer in Durham, another Best Western Hotel which was far superior . There is no way we would stay in that hotel again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone. My husband asked for a reduction in the £200 price which was immediately refused because we booked through Expedia. Would you consider this.

There were banging noises from room next door. Apparently the occupant were temporarily housed by Council as they have mental health issues so banging doors tables crying and loud music nonstop. I couldn't sleep so It was a mightmare

The hotel and room were in a poor state, the room was cool, the shower was cold and dirty, the breakfast was not good and expensive, during the night there was running and shouting in the corridor, broken window at reception, not a good experience! Paid a lot of money! Very disappointing! Will not be going back!

Housekeeping walked in to room and woke me up nearly 3 hours before check out, check in was a shambles, reception staff just expected me to know where my room was, noisy machinery outside bedroom window, I only booked late to save driving while tired, I drove home in the morning more tired than I was the night before

We couldn’t get the heat turned down, had windows open all the time. Breakfast was all cold foods, no butter for 3 days, scones were stale, had to ask for bread, tea, and to fix coffee machine, general appearance of the hotel was shabby. The one saving grace, a young lady receptionist, Leah, who was extremely warm, welcoming and helpful.

The price should have been a good warning to me. A very tired hotel. Neither the restaurant nor bar is open. Not good enough for a hotel which is not centrally located. Continental breakfast offering only

Needs to be very transparent that there is no restaurant anymore. This is inconvenient. As mentioned by someone else i also got one of the rooms next to the extremely noisy machinery next to the left of the main building. Couldn't sleep because of that.

Overnight stop and picked hotel at random. On arrival found old school BW which was, probably, a family run hotel back in the day. Lots of character, e.g. the breakfast room that was a vaulted ballroom/function room overlooking the garden, with original features and spotlessly clean and tidy. This is not a cut and paste could be anywhere chain hotel and would happily use again, also was remarkably good value for bed and breakfast.
