This is a very special property. Upon check in, we were told the legend of Pedro and Innes, a tragic and romantic story that allegedly took place here. This set the tone for our exploration of this grand and historic accommodation. The public lounges are exquisite, and the library is full of old-world charm. The gardens are moody and extensive, well worth a stroll. We dined in both their restaurants, and the service and food were flawless. Our reason for visiting Coimbra was to see the historic university. And although the university is exceptional, this hotel stole the show!

Enjoyed the stay. Walkable to the city. Staff gave us suggestions of what to do/where to eat. Food at the hotel was very good. I would recommend it.

Impressively old property that shows like a museum. The rooms require a bit of a refresh in the bathrooms and the cheap carpet does not match the rest.

We loved our stay here! Beautiful property and nicely updated rooms while maintaining the history of it. The warm pool, sauna and steam room were also really enjoyed!

We stayed at Quinta das Lágrimas via Hotels.com Rewards and the experience was appalling. We felt discriminated against for using rewards from the start. Despite paying an extra fee for our children, the hotel provided no extra bed or towels for them. My 4-year-old was forced to sleep in our bed, and basic amenities were denied. The room was far below 5-star standards: stains on the ceiling, damaged wood walls, and an ancient, poor-quality baby cot. On the second day, the hotel intentionally deactivated our room key, forcing us to walk across the property with our family. Staff condescendingly suggested the door "allegedly" (alegadamente) wouldn't open because of us, but management later admitted they restricted access just to scan our daughters' IDs—a request they could have made at any other time. This happened on my wife’s birthday, making the stay extremely uncomfortable. I have filed two official complaints in the "Livro de Reclamações" regarding the lack of service and illegal ID handling. As a loyal Hotels.com member for years, I am disgusted by this treatment. Avoid this property if you expect professional service and respect for families.

Staff are exceptional, the hotel and grounds, incredible. If you can, treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

Very helpful staff and wonderful gardens . The bar bistro serves excellent food and lunch in the restaurant also very impressive .

The legend of the farm and fountains are fun, the grounds are very interesting, the indoor pool was fun, the outdoor pool closed for the season, the staff was excellent, both friendly and very informative and helpful.

Staff were amazing, and the history of the property! Gardens! Driveway! Incredibly kept well with so much effort that the gardeners, and supporting staff take to make this historic property open to us!

The property is in an amazing area with a gorgeous garden and hiking trails. The hotel is beautiful BUT the rooms have a stale musty smell and they need a remodeling

Staff is great! Property is beautiful. Be mindful to ask for a room away from a main hallway to avoid a little noise. For us, even so, it was very nice. Note: if you want to swim indoors bring a bathing cap. Outdoors not needed but indoors we were limited by this!
