Magical place, swimming pool and tennis court made it so special to us! We enjoyed the upgrade so much! The food and the wine were out of this world.

What an amazing chateau! So beautiful. We had a turret room which was grand. Did the wine tasting; had amazing dinners cooked by the incredible chef. Breakfast had everything you could possibly want from cheese, salmon, meats, muesli, fresh yogurt, Eggs, Fabulous breads and jams, whole box of honeycomb. Cannot recommend enough. Only disappointment was it was too cold to swim in the beautiful huge pool.

Relais and Chateaux-no- no NON! Where to even begin? Our experience at Château Mer was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we've had in recent memory — especially considering the Relais & Châteaux label and the premium pricing. We arrived on the afternoon of Monday, September 15th, and the lack of welcome was immediately noticeable. It took quite some time before anyone appeared at the front desk. Though the staff were pleasant enough, the entire welcome experience lacked polish, warmth, and organization. It felt chaotic, under-trained, and oddly indifferent — think Fawlty Towers, but without the charm. We were offered an iced tea in what I assume was meant to be a tranquil garden. Unfortunately, the space was poorly maintained: wilted plants, uneven pathways, and furniture that had seen better days. The setting felt unloved. And yet, despite all this, the building itself is stunning — a beautiful old grande dame perched in an enviable location. That makes what follows all the more frustrating. Room Disaster (a.k.a. “The Upgrade”) After a long wait with no communication, we were told we’d been “upgraded.” Normally, that would be welcome news — but this so-called upgrade turned out to be a turret room spread over two floors. The first floor had a small room - basically an entryway - with a desk and a bench, a room with a sit-in tub/sink and another with a toilet. Up a stone spiral staircase was the sleeping room which had a round bed and a bizarre layout that made

It has always been a dream of mine to stay in a real medieval chateau. We had an exceptional experience! Not only is the chateau absolutely beautiful, the staff and food was superb! They are all so friendly and accommodating. They go over and beyond and I would recommend a visit to everyone! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

Our stay at Château de Mercuès was fantastic. We stayed for one night and swam, dined, drank and slept wonderfully. The staff were helpful, friendly, knowledgable and discreet. I cannot speak highly enough of all of them. The pool area was build in the 60s and although maybe showing its age slightly, was charming, providing sunbeds and parasols The evening service at La Dueze (on-site michelin starred restaurant) was impeccable. The food and wine were some of the best I have ever had. The room was tidy, clean and comfortable and well equipped with tea-making, wi-fi and small minibar. The wine tour is a must. The cellars were immaculate and a testament to the care and dilligence of the staff thoughout. The hotel is one of a kind. A genuine castle on top of a hill with some of the most breathtaking views I have ever experienced.

The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The decor was very old and tired and the air conditioning did not work - no matter what the wall machine said. The worst part was that there was no shower in the bathroom. Only a bath with a hand held (no not attached on high). The restaurant, on the other hand was exceptional

A truly amazing place! The view is spectacular, and the service and the food are extraordinary. It‘s very well maintained (which is very hard work for such a place - an old castle). It‘s worth a stay!

We had an evening meal from the Bistro menu (restaurant closed that day) and one from the main restaurant menu. Both times we felt the meals were disappointing. Portion sizes small esp for this part of France. The flavours were not up to Michelin star rating. My husbands steak was dry and overcooked and my lobster was miniscule and mushy, and that was after waiting an hour for the food to arrive. Better meals can be had in nearby villages at a fraction of the price, less touristy, and with true French flavour. We didn't bother with the breakfast at 29 euros each. Our room had a private balcony with a magnificent view, and the room was comfortable in the gentrified, decrepit chateau style.

Beautiful Château steeped in history - only negative was no air conditioning in main bedroom although we had a second bedroom which had an air conditioning unit which helped cool the suite. Food gorgeous and attentive service.

A most incredible property - a medieval castle/fortress on top of the hill overlooking the area. Beautifully restored with charmingly appointed rooms. Front desk staff good, however, restaurant staff was hopeless. It is a one Michelin star restaurant and the food is at a high level but the waiting staff is not up to scratch. They served us lukewarm white wine and it took them another hour to bring out the bottle of red and almost 2 hours to begin serving food. Just as bad was the wine tour which was conducted by a Young man half in English and half in French yet the he spent 90% of the time talking to the french crowd while we were forced to wait up to half an hour at a time for a 5 min speach. Have up in the end.

First a caution. Our GPS (and we were told most GPS devices) will not get you to the hotel. Once you get to the town of Mercuès, follow the hotel’s signs not your GPS. The hotel is a true chateau with a long and interesting history. The building and grounds are lovely as are the rooms. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is starred and the food is extremely good. Prices at the restaurant are somewhat high but generally in line with other comparable restaurants. The chateau is also a winery. If you like wine, it is worth a visit.

Beautiful, just before the season's close. If you like castle, wines, and outstanding food this is your place. Bonus: you can visit the castle's winery.
