The Scandic Bergen city hotel was a good experience all around. It’s in a good location within walking distance of most of all the great things to see and do in Bergen, a colorful city with centuries of history. The hotel, the lobby, the dining area and the room are modern, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet had a nice variety of good food. This was one of our best stays in Europe. Thank you.

A disappointing and frustrating stay. Our visit didn't get off to a good start when check in involved the only unfriendly and unhelpful person we met in our Norway trip. We felt like second class citizens and she couldn't wait to be rid of us. It didn't get better when we went over the road to an annex building, security was lax as the door took ages to close and there was no card needed to work the lift. The room was very dark and had a high window onto a grim back of building scene. We had to check our booking to see if we had booked an economy room by mistake. We hadn't and the room had no resemblance to the pictures in the booking. Added to this the electrics seemed strange and lights would randomly switch themselves on and off. The next morning the bathtub the shower was in was very slippery with no grab handle. I slipped in the shower and only just managed to stop myself falling through the glass screen. I went to reception and the much friendlier lady agreed to change our room. But it meant that we were without a room until 3.30 that afternoon. It was a cold and wet day and we had to wait and dry out in reception as we watched lots of people checking in and going to their rooms. I asked to speak to a manager but was told none were available and was given an email address as a method of complaint. I wrote to it while shivering in the lobby, no reply yet. When given a room it was a double not a twin. Back at reception they immediately found a new room, which was lovely.

Even with the ongoing strike affecting the hotel, they manage to meet their guests with a smile and a pleasant tone and are very accommodating. The breakfast buffet was a little reduced due to the situation, but absolutely very good and the selection was good. All kudos to the staff who ensured that the guests did not notice too much of the ongoing strike.

Restaurant staff on strike made drinks and meals a bit awkward. We missed having a kettle and tea/coffee in our room. But overall a lovely clean and modern room with lovely and friendly staff.

We were moved to Scandic Byeparken because of the hotel staff strike. Very cramped room. Reception staff unsmiling and not terribly helpful. Morning staff much better - friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is first-rate. the hotel is very well situated.

The breakfast menu selection was fantastic. Fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, etc. Lots of choices for food and drinks (juices, coffee, tea, and vitamin shots).

Hotel staff allowed us to leave our bags at the start and end of the trip due to our flight times which was really helpful. However, lots of things wrong with this hotel. Lift broken, lack of amenities in room (no kettle, shower cap etc). Our room flooded whilst we were out and our clothes were wet, they didn’t offer a dry cleaning service to rectify this. The reception area is inviting, however when you go upstairs to the rooms they are very dated and in need of modernisation.
