Terrible, damp on the walls, scuffed up head board (which didn’t match the bed !!) broken television and being woken up with the bins at 6am I think it’s a disgrace in my opinion it’s pure and utter disrespect and humiliation of my purchase.

The views are absolutely fantastic, we didn’t try golf or spa, so couldn’t comment on those. The hotel is dated and cleaning needs to massively improve. After our first night, room wasn’t cleaned, we checked at reception and they said they were still being done (around 4pm) we went back after dinner, towels were replaced even though we had hung two up to reuse and not used two, bed was pulled over not made and cups hadn’t been washed, water replaced. Day 2, beds made, all towels replaced regardless of use, cups washed and no water. Very inconsistent, also cob webs everywhere, liquid splash marks up walls and stains on carpet. We requested a downstairs room after a knee injury, this wasn’t acknowledged or actioned, but one lift was out of order and we had to drag suitcases up and down 3-4 sets of stairs, after three days I had to go back to using knee braces after being free of them for almost 6 weeks, so please bare in mind. Also Peacocks are beautiful but wake early, the first night for us this was 02:30hrs. We wouldn’t return due to cleanliness and noise from Peacocks.

The hotel overall, was tired and all communal areas were dirty. Our room was so far away from reception we were almost in a different postcode to the main hotel. One of our party had limited mobility and traversing the hotel was incredibly challenging with lifts out of order and a ‘rabbit warren’ of corridors that are not signposted clearly. On the way to our room (357) the corridors are strewn with mismatched dusty, stained furniture that clearly looks as though they have been dumped there for want of a better place to put them. The carpets, doors and walls are worn and dirty. The bathroom clearly hadn’t been refurbished since the 90’s. It was old and appeared dirty and stained. Breakfast was far from adequate in a room that had stained furniture and disgusting carpets. Poor choice of continental breakfast foods. I will be placing a review on trip advisor and contacting the manager

The main hotel was very nice, large car park, the receptionist was very friendly and the grounds were well maintained however the road leading up to the hotel has lots of potholes, the room we stayed in was very basic with mould in the bathroom and cobwebs on the walls, the lift was out of order for our entire stay and there were a lot of stairs.

Stayed for 2 nights, didnt replace bottled water, Coffee, milks sugar etc for second night let alone make the bed. Also was a cost to using the facilities pool etc which was highlighted when booking despite lots of pictures of a lovely pool. Paid a lot and didnt get much. would have been just as well of in a Premier Inn/ Travelodge.

We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was not great food. Staff were all pleasant enough. Strangely they do not sell crisps,, peanuts etc. in the bars - I don’t think I have ever experienced this before.

Grounds and views stunning but hotel rooms tired and old fashioned and not the cleanest but ok, building is like a maze and only a couple of lifts going to different parts of the building. Not accessible really for those with poor mobility and quite pricey for what it is. Bar very expensive.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful (golf course) grounds. Food adequate. Room (245) was pleasant but double glazing poor as spent the night listening to a screech owl in adjacent trees - so minimal sleep! Also room was set up for single occupancy with no bedside lamp on one side of bed. And, noise insulation between rooms and between room and corridor poor. Overall, disappointing return to an hotel we last visited some years ago.

Accommodation aligned to wedding reception booked via Hotels.com as was unable to reach hotel reservations on several occasions to take advantage of guest discount and held in queue on each attempt. Wedding arrangements/catering/hosting was excellent but the room allocated was at the back of the hotel away from other wedding guests and decor facilities were ‘tired’ and in need of some TLC. Toilet in bathroom didn’t flush properly and wardrobe smelled when opened. Wedding suite although lovely was away from main hotel and there was a lot of toing & froing up and down a steep path between the main reception and the wedding venue/car park.

It would have been helpful to know about the road closures nearby. I had a very interesting tour of the back lanes around the Peak District which Google managed admirably until depositing me at a farmhouse. Luckily I’m from N Devon, used to Exmoor lanes, and a farmer myself!

Lovely historical building with remarkable views. Main guest areas are of good condition but rooms need a bit of maintenance / refreshing. After delay at check in, was provided initially with room not make up then one with sewage smell. Breakfast good. Staff friendly and helpful. Peacocks lovely to see about hotel grounds, but may disturb sleep.
