Perfect location if you are wanting to explore Canterbury. Close to the Canterbury West Station and right in the middle of the historical and walled part of Canterbury.

Great location staff very friendly and helpful Rooms need updating

It was a unique old hotel with many quirks. The bed was comfy and housecleaning did a great job. My beef was in the lighting and the glass entry to the bathroom, which is very problematic at night when the lights are off. In order to see where you are going a light needs to be on and the light above the closet and under the step were too bright to be left on. So if you do not want to wake your partner it needs to be on or you need to get to the room door to put on the bathroom light. One could easily walk into the glass by accident that is in front of the tub. We were there for three night. You need more storage ( drawers for clothing ). Reception staff was good.

Room was spacious, decor of room probably needed maintaining a little better. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Ideal location if you want to enjoy Canterbury nightlife.

When we booked, it didn’t seem clear that there was only a specific type of room we could book to bring a dog. I was messaged after booking and was asked to pay a bit extra for a different room. When we arrived we also were asked to pay a fee for bringing the dog with us. If you are sensitive to light you will need to bring an eye covering as the room was illuminated by light coming from the hallway and the edges of the curtains. Also, the bed was soft. We had dinner here, which included chicken breast from the “large plates” section of the menu - a lone chicken breast for £20. The staff were kind but overstretched. When we had breakfast, the event took about two hours. We really needed to get going but were waiting for our order. As we had a dog with us, we were informed at breakfast that we couldn’t enter the restaurant area and were asked to sit in the bar, which was unstaffed. Later, someone came to take our order, but we hadn’t seen a menu. When our food arrived, it was the wrong order. We had to go into the restaurant three times to find out where our food was. Luckily I was with my wife, as I don’t know how this could have been done on my own with a dog. Drinks were also self-serve, which would have been impossible if I was alone with my dog. Eventually we got our breakfast after 2 hours and took it straight up to our room as we had to leave.

Great location, but the room was very tired and shabby. Poor quality finish and in need of updating.

This was a lovely hotel extremely well-situated close to the center of old town in Canterbury, no more than a 5-minute walk to the cathedral, and with a small market conveniently located next door. The staff were wonderful, and the room couldn't be beat. I ended up in the top floor suite, with a comfy living room, lovely bathroom, and wonderful bed and bedroom. I was traveling solo, but there was ample room in the suite for several people to gather and relax. (There were even some board games!) My absolute favorite part was the private balcony, which had plenty of seating and wonderful views of the cathedral and city. Having breakfast in the hotel was a convenient option, although I would suggest ordering hot items a la carte off the menu instead of paying for the breakfast-included rate. (Although it wasn't expensive, I wasn't able to substitute it for my preferred breakfast.) All in all, this hotel was an extremely comfortable and convenient place to stay, and I would absolutely stay here again!

Great place to stay in central Canterbury.

Would like to have a fridge in the room to keep water and drinks cool and aircon was set and could not Be changed in a heat wave not ideal otherwise was great stay.

Great location for the centre of Canterbury and access to the cathedral, shops and green spaces. Air-conditioning in room a bit noisy, but otherwise room met our needs. Ideally a coffee machine in the room would be better and a mini-bar. What we didn't like was the fact that we had booked a continental breakfast, but you could only order one item from a menu, and coffee/juice and the buffet offered was only cereal and fruit. Not sure how this is continental as would have expected pastries/croissants, yoghurt, meats/cheeses etc.

Great location. 5 min walk to every place you’d want to visit. Great A/C. Spacious room. Helpful staff. I’d definitely stay here again. Only negative is the included breakfast is very light.

Perfect position lovely hotel

Contemporary clean and airy room with comfortable beds and very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.

I stay for my husband’s birthday treat, however when we arrived you only had 1 person on check in and the que was out the door so we stood there for 30 minutes waiting, to then get in our room and find no plug for the bath, my husband hit his head twice once in the shower and bedroom as the room had a tilt (wasn’t any mind your head signs) breakfast was advised as a continental however we got 1 bit of toast and a croissant, overall not a great stay.

Location is the best, very unique hotel, friendly staff

The hotel was nice but was just disappointed with the room, the toilet seat was broken as was a shower control. Using the shower and toilet would have been fine if I was 5 foot high and they were both positioned close to the sloping ceiling. We were there just for a night as we were attending an event so had minimal time to raise our concerns at reception. However, our stay was during the hot evening spell and the air conditioning was a life saver. Overall just felt the room was over priced

Nice room but bit noisy looking on high street with vehicles and drunks playing music opposite for a while - as no double glazing / sound proofing. Air conditioning unit leaked water onto table and wet belongings but managed to dry out overnight. Breakfast was okay but continental and not much choice and no ham / cheese / pastries as would be expected. Extra charge for cooked English breakfast / Eggs Royale etc at £10 was too much - we were only charged extra £3 for this at a 5 star hotel we stayed at after this…. Parking at £25 per night is way too expensive and used castle street parking for only £29 fo 2 days there.

Great location in the heart of the city. Lovely clean room with air conditioning which was a pleas given the heat in June!

Im going to start with the positive note then get to the other stuff. It is bang in the middle of the town (so not much parking) everything is walking distance and in that regard it was good a few mins from the cathedral and plenty of places to eat. Now the rest. After a 3 hour drive in the heat we got there absolutely shattered and all i wanted was to get to the bar and have a cold drink, oh no no. What I wasn't told was the car park they have was tiny, also bare in mind i had even called them before hand and asked about the parking all they said was its first come first served (i didn"t realise what that meant until I saw the parking), a tiny car park in a small alley which cars can barley get into (fyi the parking was £50 for 2 nights). I waited at the gate for 20mins as the receptionist was on his own and didn't get a chance to let me in. We get to the reception and checked in, the staff didn't seem to be bothered or apologetic about me waiting. We got to the room (average at best) and fyi we paid 150 a night. The sink hadn't been cleaned as I could see water marks for glasses, the sink got blocked on the second night and they have no maintenance service at night, oh also they don't have fridges in the room ( for £150 a night lol). At check out we weren't even asked about our stay or visit. Disappointed- Not worth it at all, other places ive paid a lot less for a lot more. Avoid this !!!! Please don't waste your money. I blooming did. 😒

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is very well located, with everything in Canterbury within easy walking distance. The rooms and some of the public areas are starting to feel a little dated, but if you can get a good deal on the price, it’s definitely worth considering. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, a good hotel in a great location, especially if you can book it at the right price.
