I wasn’t aware that this property was being torn down soon, but it definitely explains the condition — it feels like it’s already been abandoned. The room had a strange, musty odor that never went away. It was incredibly dirty. There was peeling paint, bugs and debris along the carpet edges, a bathroom exhaust fan caked with dust and grime, and a slow-draining shower that made every use unpleasant. There was no housekeeping service at all during the stay, and it was nearly impossible to track down basics like clean towels or have the trash emptied. It felt like the staff had already checked out, just like the building. Overall, a truly disappointing and uncomfortable experience.

The rooms were so old and fixtures in the bathrooms looked broken...

I overheard that the hotel was scheduled for demolition. I think that is a good idea.

Fantastic staff at a dated, old school California hotel

Great location and check in was easy. Close to many good restaurants and the beach is within walking distance. Room was average, mattress needed to be replaced.

Accommodating staff. We arrived early from our flight, so we were able to store our luggage and were offered early check in.

For the tier of hotel it was a pleasant stay. The shower faucet was leaking, but room was otherwise very clean and comfortable. Could use more seating given room was large. Checkin staff was very nice and quick, but checkout took a lil bit of time.

I accidentally booked the wrong dates as the trip was last minute and due to an emergency. When I realized I called the hotel to change the date. They said they could not change the dates and could not give me a refund- hotels.com had to. I called hotels.com and they said the hotel had to approve the refund. So I ended up having to pay for 2 nights at a hotel I never even went to. I will never use hotels.com to book and Dana point hotel staff was rude and dishonest and not somewhere I would ever recommend based on the service.

Front desk is very welcoming and helpful. My room was okay…didn't appear to have been vacummed or wiped down. Last day huge roach in bathroom. Front desk was prompt in taking car of that and comping my parking for entire stay. They do tell you in advance limited housekeeping.

I have learned that the property is going to undergo a major renovation by the end of the year. I wish I knew that before I reserved the rooms. I can’t say anything bad about employees but condition of the rooms with spiders inside the bed, phone doesn’t work, poor internet, linen is old…etc.

Location, location, location! I believe they are getting ready to tear the present Inn down and build a new state of the art Inn, as part of the Dana Point Harbour redo, therefore the Inn was not modern. Shannon, who checked us in, was wonderful and Diana, In charge of the wonderful breakfast included was also wonderful!

Convenient to walk the restaurants near by, and shopping stores.

This property need to be renovated the staff was nice but property is old and outdated

We’ve always loved this location. Unfortunately it’s being tore down so it hasn’t been kept up. But the rooms were clean & the kids love the pool & hot tub.

Definitely get the one bedroom it's like an apartment with great views

Nice simple harbor hotel. Only draw back was our favorite restaurant closed but there's others close by.
