I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. It has undergone a few rebrandings, as it is now. I have always appreciated that it is a budget hotel with a kitchen to save some $ making breakfast in the room. However...
When I received my confirmation for this stay there was a disclaimer that the hotel is under renovation but no work is done after 5pm. At 9:10pm workers were using a hammer drill to drill into the plaster wall between my room and the next. Of the four rooms on my floor, two were under renovation and there were at least three workers working at 9:10pm. I called down to the desk and she said there were no renovations going on. Eventually the front desk person came up and was surprised to see and hear the construction. After contacting management she assured me it would stop within 10 minutes. While the hammer drilling did stop, work continued well into the night. Pounding. Doors opening and slamming. Rustling plastic.
There was no heat in the room either. They have installed mini-spilts but no warm air ever comes out. Had the temperature up high and waited more than an hour. Ended up sleeping in my long underwear, a long sleeve T and a toque.
The next morning when I tried to cook breakfast, the stove was not working. I called down to the front desk and she informed me that in the "terms of service" there is a $30 fee to turn the stove on.
One of the worst stays I've had. And I'm a budget traveler with pretty basic needs. I won't ever be back.
