Reading some of the other positive reviews I wonder if it was the same hotel. I think it would be generous to call this hotel tired. I think it is very much mismanaged. It needs a very thorough deep clean. The breakfast room was so bad that neither my wife or I wanted to eat in there. The carpet was disgusting and tables were cleaned by just sweeping debris in to the floor. Even all the windows were covered by a film of dirt. The bar was a mess and the bar staff didn’t seem to want to keep the place tidy even though it was quiet. The pool was ok. I think the hotel has potential but needs investment.

Great stay, Friday evening meal was great, Saturday night there didn’t seem enough staff on.

Room was musty and needed to use body spray to mask smell. However, the bed was comfortable and room had a fan which helped. iron and ironing board were available. Sheets and towels were clean. Shower was powerful with good temperature: Facilities - Hot tub was out of order and I was not made aware of this when I arrived and said I was going to use the spa. Except from the library and reception area the hotel seemed run down and in dire need of a revamp central courtyard fake grass thread bare Most notably Restaurant food was really poor and certainly not good value for money. I ordered a rump steak and at over £30 the fries were flaccid and cold, When I made the waiting staff aware, they were polite and understanding but I got the same plate back from the kitchen 10 minutes later with hotter fries but they were still just as flaccid! The steak was then discovered to be a poor cut and full of gristle. I was then kindly offered an other meal from the menu and I ordered a burger which was at least Ok. Two other guests complained about their poor food and service. One lady who was there as a special treat from her husband, was very upset and was not dealt with very well by one staff member (james) when she complained. She was told “I’ve apologised to you already and don’t know what else I can do. I’m very busy and this conversation is going nowhere so I’m going now”.. In summary much improvement needed on food, facilities and some staff attitudes! I will not be returning.

My stay was good until the morning, where I had no hot water, I did make the staff aware of this.

Very old dated, needs a refresh, room was old fashioned and with old furniture carpets need refreshing

Although the reception, library room and breakfast area were fine this hotel is in need of renovation. We stayed two nights and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Especially Julia on the front desk. Our beds were large and comfortable but the room was dated with taps not working and the toilet hard to flush. Breakfast was adequate. We didn’t use the bar but it looked like a Wetherspoons. The hotel is set in nice countryside with quick access to the main road. It could be much better with some money put into maintenance.

A perfect location for the PF international kart circuit Good food clean rooms and very helpful staff My only issue, Sat and Sunday morning breakfast doesn’t start early enough for people staying there who are attending the Kart racing at PF international.

This hotel is lovely, the rooms are large & amenities are great

The staff are all very attentive and friendly. However the building is starting to show it's age (understandable in today's economic climate). And whilst we didn't mention it at the time, the mattress in our room was as lumpy as we've experienced.

Great value for the price and the quality of surface you get. Cannot complain. The hall way at night does looks a bit like a haunted movie due to the way the motion sensor for the light works and the bluish emergency exit lighting.

The staff were great, but the hotel is very tired. The mattress was awful. The food was very average.

Great gym, made us if the sauna and steam rooms and had a great breakfast to start the day!

We’ve stayed here before and the hotel was passable. But this time there was no hot water for at least 2 days in half the hotel. The hotel continued to book people into those rooms despite the lack of a basic amenity. This was on top of the food being particularly poor - we saw several meals being sent back to the kitchen. In the end we cancelled the remaining night on our stay and went elsewhere, and we definitely weren’t alone in this.

First room was terrible, mattress sunk in the middle, staff great, swapped rooms, 2nd room great until we tried to shower, no hot water, assured it was fixed, 2nd night the same, no hot water, had to check out a day earlier as couldn’t cope with cold showers! Food not up to the normal standards, been staying at this hotel for over 7 years , something has defo changed, very disappointed. Staff tried to be helpful . Pool area was very good as always, hopefully just a blip

Excellent breakfast & staff very accomadating & friendly....... Thats were it ends. Hotel needs a good overall. When we arrived 5pm our allocated room was not made up, the reception staff were lovely allocated a different room. Again this had not been made up! Third room toilet seat came off in our hands. Forth room allocated on ground floor over looking the bin compound but couldnt be bothered to complain again!! Went down to get food website states restaurant open only to find only bar food available which was not the best!! Come to eventually going to bed, my side of the bed was so uncomfortable literally felt like the springs were coming through the matteress. As someone with a chronic illneess this left me in severe pain & lack of sleep makes symptoms worse! What should have been a relaxing time away resulted in us having to come home early.
