We booked a "superior" room as an upgrade and what we got was anything but. It was a ground floor accessible room. The additional space was only to accommodate a wheelchair. The bathroom was abjectly terrible. Poor finishing, leaking sink, running toilet, stained stiff tap, and a dollar store plastic shower curtain between the toilet and shower which neither keeps the toilet area dry or gives you space to shower. At best you can use the toilet with wet feet and your knees against the curtain.
We called this out to the desk and via Hotels support and the property just didn't care. We were given the choice to pay €20 to downgrade to the standard room, tiny but at least with a real shower, €100 to upgrade to the suite and no offer of even a partial refund.
It seems that if there are actual superior rooms they have fewer than they sell. Then there's the added bonus that the carpet in the room was either worn, dirty or both but it was not a consistent colour, at least they gave us slippers so we could avoid touching it with our bare feet.
