The only thing I wasn’t to say is it’s an old building and…..you won’t have any control of the air conditioning. It’s controlled by the property for the entire floor. My room had to be at least 76° - 78° when I arrived. It was awful. The fan wasn’t helping either. THIS IS PHOENIX!

I didn't get to stay there because the AC was broken but thank God. The hotel is in a very sketchy place, doesn't have a carpark so you have to look for one around at a not very nice street, the lobby smells terrible between mouldy and dirt, just the sofa at the entrance was the dirties thing I've seen. I wouldn't have stayed there even if I didn't get a refund.

The facility is older, and you do not have to worry about rooms being overly cold. This is probably the downside of the facility. The "office center" consisted of one working computer and was very hot to work in. This area was the workout room, which was limited. I need to print out a bunch of documents for an appointment. Which is the reason I was there. The location, because of my needs, was very suitable and served my purpose, plus it was very reasonable in cost. The staff was very helpful since I live in Mexico, and I had a piece of mail that did not arrive during my stay. The staff was willing to forward that mail in an envelope I left them, and they followed up with me once they received it. All in all, I would stay there again if I had similar needs there again.

Location and staff were great. No thermostat in the room though, so our room was quite hot which made it very difficult to sleep unfortunately.

There is no AC so it is hot and stuffy. No fan in the bathroom. No fridge. It’s an old hotel and not much to write home about.

Poor AC, uncomfortable bed, you can hear everything happening in your neighbor's rooms and in the hallway. So uncomfortable, we drove home for the night. The restaurant was delicious! Would eat there again

San Carlos Hotel is a well located hotel in Phoenix Downtown. It is full of history, being the first luxory hotel since 1930s. I stayed on the floor where Clark Gable had a room!!! Decoration made me feel like home.

I start with the Negatives from this stay could be all related to the Arizona Heat. I may want to stay again but during the Winter. The negatives this building is a much older building and its A/C is central air so its not controlled by the rooms or the desk staff which made the stay very difficult to sleep. my oldest 20 and youngest 16 went home mutiple nights during the stay as they couldnt handle the heat in the room as there was no cold air at night . My wife ordered a fan and had it delivered . In previous reviews it says they provided fans to people who aaked. (She didnt ask) The pool was also closed during my visit as there doing renovations . This can be releated to old plumbing but water would jump to scolding hot every few minutes even we had it set cold, description says preium channels for the tv only had Over the Air TV stations I do kind of regret booking my stay as we left feeling agitated instesd of relaxed and happy. Now the postives the staff were amazing my wife enjoyed speaking with the house keeper. There is also a mini hollywood stars around building of classic stars that stayed at the hotel. 3rd floor where the ice maker is at they have the Marylyn Monroe suite as in history of building she was once a guest. Building is less then two blocks from the convention center . Exterior of this building was also used in both original Pyscho and the Remake Building is also supposly hunted but did not experience.

We had a standard room on a low rate, Phoenix temps in the low 100s. I found the hotel to be friendly and clean. It does show of age and some areas due for remodeling, however, the charm of the historic hotel is there. Limited conversations with staff were attentive and showed care for us as guests. The pool was drained and closed with other basic maintance well kept. The room temp was cool and with the use of the ceiling fan, the room tempature was comfortable in the Phoenix heat, this is meantioned due to other reviews read about the hotel and tempature controls. The lobby was humid and warm in the evening. It's an A+ 3-Star hotel. I was pleased with the stay and would stay there again.

Everything is all good but the a/c is terrible service Highly not recommend staying here for the summer It’s still hot when we came back from the Phoenix fan fusion convention . We left the night of booking. Not sure I’ll get a refund for the nights that I didn’t stay, but will not book here ever again. Please upgrade your ac and modernize Hopefully the staff or site helps out with the refund

The location was accessable to a parking garage as well as the many sites of downtown. I do understand that it is a historical hotel but the inability to control the temperature of my room in a city like downtown Phoenix was shocking. It was car too warm in the room. The beds were hard and uncomfortable and the shower was less than inadequate. The staff was kind and quick to check in and out.

The staff were nice and friendly but it doesn't make up for the poor condition of the hotel. Terrible ac (which matters in Phoenix) Water from the shower was either ice cold or searing hot. The pool was being fixed so it was closed. No parking or valet service for an area that honestly needs it. I would not stay again. The TV's were ancient and had no options. And there wasn't a lot of options for electricity for phone charging.
