Very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was good although of the two days I had breakfast I was only asked once for my room number to confirm I'd paid for it. I could have had it for free on the first day. I liked the option of getting a voucher at the bar if I opted not to have my room cleaned. About a 10 min walk to the university and about 15 mins from the station so a good location for me. I would certainly return here when visiting Essen again.

For starters, this hotel is overpriced, outdated, and unappealing to the eye. My room was right at the Main Street so we heard ambulance and traffic throughout the night. It smelled old as if years ago it was a smokers room. The beds are hard and the sofa sleeper is a hazard for children. The furniture and television are outdated and the bathroom had a window that looks into the bedroom hall and though clean, it was also outdated. The pictures on hotels.com did not match what I got. Though there was parking, it was very tight to maneuver but doable. Our room was also right by the elevator so we heard people come and go. For the money we paid, I am dissatisfied with the appearance and quality of my stay. I have stayed in better for less which made my expectations high for the Marriott. Had I saw the updated photos on hotels.com and the prices matched that value, I would have no complaints but this is total opposite. If I could have cancelled my room without penalty, I would have. I expected more from hotels.com and will be cautious to book on the site again.

It’s not a good choice can’t walk anywhere

Lucked out on our room. Literally one of the largest suites I think I have ever stayed in. Huge. A little dated, however clean and comfortable. Staff were great. Enjoyed our brief stay.

We expected our executive suite to be ready at the 2pm check-in time. It was not ready.

Nice hotel conveniently situated 2 mins walk from Viehofer Platz tram stop. The main railway station is 2 tram stops or about a 15 min walk. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are well decorated, clean and comfortable. AC is available and the windows also open wide for fresh air if required. Breakfast buffet had a great selection of food, one of the best I’ve seen for a buffet breakfast.

Excellent for a business trip. My only niggle was trying to claim the 5€\night sustainability reward which was a bit confusing for the bar staff……all sorted in the end as the staff were excellent. :-)

Everything was just perfect. When I reached the hotel I was dead tiered, when I got into the room it was so cozy, so comfortable, and calm, it was just perfect, I slept like a baby. Kind and professional staff, hotel is clean, nothing to complain about. There are busses and metro station near by. I totally recommend this hotel.
