Staff were lovely and welcoming. The entrance was nice. We had the Executive room, with a king-size bed that had a dip on one side and two single beds, which the children were happy with. The beds were clean. We loved the skylights. The carpet was stained and a bit sticky, and some of the chairs were stained. We had breakfast; I had a full English, which was of basic quality. The chairs were dirty in the dining room. The children preferred the continental breakfast. If it weren't for the floor needing a good clean and the chairs, it would have been a nice room. Oh, and the kettle wasn't clean, nor were the cups, so we had no tea. It was a lovely touch to include a kids' activity pack and chocolate. Didnt have time for pool, but it looked nice.

We had a great time at the Mickleover. The hotel was well located near Derby with ample parking. What made our stay great was that everything in the room was working properly with a good level of upkeep. The staff were wonderfully engaging and took time to deal with us individually to give us that 5 star treatment.

We do really enjoy staying at this hotel when we visit alton Towers. The beds are so comfy, and the hotel its self is lovely. Reception staff are particularly friendly and welcoming. The only negative is that its a bit dated and needs a revamping. The carpets in particular are awful, some very stained amd dated. The paintwork needs a little maintenance too, the changing facilities for the pool are not that great. But for a nice one night stay it does us perfectly.

Stayed overnight whilst visiting Alton Towers. Every member of staff that we dealt with was so friendly and helpful, the reception staff went above and beyond. Room was great, perfect for our family. Swimming pool was enjoyed and the breakfast was nice. We were very pleased with our stay and would stay again.

Pros: Stunning reception area, feels really posh, plenty of parking space, sufficient disabled parking, if you put your number plate in at reception there's no parking charge, bathroom very nice, room very clean, room has a balcony which is nice just to stand out with a coffee and get some air (even if the view is a busy road) , very quiet so had a good sleep, there was some kind of free Starbucks offer in the reception area but I didn't know how it worked and we were in a rush - absolutely caught my eye, will investigate if we go back, grassy area around the building for dog walking Cons: Rooms could do with a bit of an update, cheapest room is fairly small (especially with a dog), the balcony door was so stiff we couldn't figure out if it had been permanently sealed off until we were leaving and gave it a final try (needs oil or a sign with instructions maybe)

Room smelt as though someone had been smoking in room, window (patio door) didn’t open, evidence of damp on ceiling & wall to bathroom.

Good hotel with swimming pool and spa. Unfortunately sink in the bathroom was totally blocked and unusable. This was reported to reception on arrival, but nothing is done for duration of the stay

We stayed for one night in a double room. The rooms were clean and fine, a little older in the decor. But the patio doors to the balcony were labelled out of order and a breeze could be felt through the seal. When raised with reception they were brilliant, checked other rooms and moved us to one which didnt have the sign on the door. The staff were lovely and did everything they could to accommodate us. We had dinner there and this was really good.

Freezing cold room and the air con / heater didn’t work so not nice really. Poorly sealed doors and no sound proofing so banging doors, hear people talking next door, other TVs, noisy road outside. Only do room service when they can be mothers, orderded it, phones 20 minutes later and told ‘oh sorry no room service tonight’. Dirty chairs at breakfast but food was OK.

The foyer is very nice but the rooms are dated and in need of some moderation. The leasure centre is good but again in need of repairs.

We had a lovely stay thank you, i brought my daughter and son for a birthday treat for my saughters birthday, the receptionist was very lovely and polite. We enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities and had a lovely meal followed by a hot chocolate in the bar. Our room was nice and clean with all the aminities we needed.

The whole hotel is dirty, I don't know how this is a 4-star hotel and has 8 stars. The room was dirty, and the central heating did not work. The AC/heater was so dry that the nose, throat, and mouth were dry- couldn't sleep. Then, the TV did not work, the iron was leaking, and the whole dress/bed was a pool of water. Housekeeping entered the room without knocking. There were no slippers for dirty rooms. When raised, there were no rooms to change to, or we could downgrade you and partially refund you. When argued, were then changed to another room, which was partly better. then in the end when asked about what is the situation update. nobody had the answer at checkout. ruined the whole trip. never again
