I rarely write reviews — I’m usually the one reading them. However, I felt I had to share our experience to help others make an informed decision, just as I tried to do for my family. I’ve stayed at Ibis hotels before and have always had good experiences, so I arrived with fairly high expectations. Unfortunately, the Ibis Carlisle did not meet those expectations at all. The hotel appears to be poorly maintained, with visible maintenance issues throughout. While it’s not the hotel’s fault, the surrounding area also felt quite rough, which added to our concerns — particularly about leaving our car in the car park overnight. Both of our rooms had multiple issues, including stains, marks, maintenance problems, unpleasant smells, and an overall lack of cleanliness. The condition of the hotel was nothing like the photos online, which feel very outdated. Given the price, we expected a much better standard, but this wasn’t the case. We ended up staying for less than 30 minutes before deciding to leave. To their credit, the staff were helpful and offered us a full refund, which we appreciated and did not expect.

Basic single bed room, medium sized, Hot water kettle, TV worked okay. The window has a safety cable and only opens a small amount. But, the room has a ceiling fan that blows air into the room. Check in and out was easy and fast. I didn't pay extra for the breakfast. It's a five minute walk from the train station.

It was what you would expect from an Ibis hotel - satisfactory accommodation for a reasonable price. If you are driving there I suggest you investigate where the car park is located (behind the hotel off Cecil Street - and not straightforward to find). I didn't, tried to call the hotel twice for directions and the call wasn't answered.

Room was ok. But for able body people it was a bit poor to be put into rooms that better used for disability people.

We have stayed before 2 years ago. The staff on check in was excellent. Floor in the room was a little dirty and one of the beds was saggy in the middle. Pillows need replacing. Was very noisy outside due to partying

The breakfast was the best part. It was freshly cooked and cooked well. The stairs were dirty and there was mud on the carpets. The room was not up to the standard we have experienced at ibis in the past.

I got a parking charge from Brittania parking for the final day at the IBIS. Parking should have been paid by the hotel. Having received the charge IBIS were unable to help.

Great stay for the price. The room was clean, amenities basic but they suit just fine. Strong enough Wi-Fi for me to take meetings, and check in/out were very easy. Free parking for all guests behind the hotel was perfect for what I needed. It’s in city centre and across from a club, but with earplugs I slept very well. Nearby shops, restaurants, and a great stay for exploring the region.

Very convenient for Carlisle railway station. The room was very clean and functional, although the temperature control didn't seem to work. The rooms at the rear are the quieter ones and will be allocated if available (and requested in advance). The choice of items at breakfast was very good. All the staff I met were very friendly and helpful.

Central location was good with many food options. Room was safe and quiet. Room needed some upkeep and maintenance. If you are arriving before 3pm you will need to pay for parking as the hotel only covers from 3pm. No place out front to unload baggage. Need to go around the rear of property into paid parking.

My wife and I recently stayed here (April 28, 2026). The check-in process was quick and easy and the young lady checking me in was helpful and professional. The restaurant and 24-hour bar area near the check-in was filled with construction workers as was their vehicles (I have nothing against construction workers, I am just describing my experience). The downstairs area seemed dark and dingy and in need of a facelift. Upon receiving our room key, we proceeded to the third floor and opened our room. The flooring was vinyl laminate and the room was small. The flooring was extremely sticky as if alcohol or soda had been spilled. The floors had not been mopped or cleaned prior to our arrival. The bathroom door had a strip of black mold running along the bottom and the bathroom floor and shower area all ran together. I opted to leave the window open to try and let fresh air in since the room smelled of mold and was musky. What a mistake that was. I forgot the bar downstairs was open 24-hours. Throughout the night, men were heard arguing, fighting, and vomiting loudly non-stop. Then around 4am, the men decided to see who could bark like a dog the loudest. It sounded like a dog pound outside. My wife asked me why were there dogs fighting outside at 4am and I explained to her it was humans, not dogs. I the United States, we have a hotel chain called motel 6. If you want a cheap room with no amenities and probably not the cleanest, you go to motel 6. This is worse than motel 6.

Parking free for the times between check in and check out. Easy check in room clean enough, but was facing a night club in a Saturday night, sc was a bit noisy. Earplugs provided free of charge.
