I've stayed in nicer hospitals. The room was very similar to a hospital room, really REALLY tired. The bathroom was the same. A fire alarm went off at 1am, and went off a few times mid morning so clearly faulty and no recompense was offered. The breakfast was pitiful and I would never stay there again.

Arrived at location at 5pm which was checking in time crazy time for this. Que at the reception. Don’t pay for dinner if you have not read the menu as they will take the money upfront. Bar staff was amazing Amir was such a fantastic host he made the evening.

Very dated… the spa area is very small, tiny pool, dirty sauna and steam room area.. we had to pay an extra £70 each to use the spa area. Which was awful…. Very disappointing for champneys.

Dining offerings (dinner, breakfast) were great and the grounds were beautiful! Room could have been a bit cleaner, but the rest of the amenities more than made up for it(:

Someone entered my room when I was asleep at approximately 10.50pm. They must have had a key card. I mentioned it to reception when I left but I have had no follow up. I have stayed a number of times at Tring but no longer feel safe to do so

We arrived on Sunday to use the spa, but were told we couldn’t access it until 4pm. The day before, I’d called the spa and was told that as overnight guests, we would have access on arrival. Reception then said it would cost an extra £70. Luckily, I had the name of the lady I’d spoken to, and after some back and forth, they eventually honoured what I was told. When we did get in, the spa was extremely busy — overcrowded, with no available beds, and the facilities felt unclean. It was not the relaxing experience we were hoping for. Our room was dated, and the shower was in poor condition. We didn’t complain and tried to make the best of it, but it’s clear the hotel needs updating. At breakfast, I asked for an almond milk coffee and was told there were no alternative milks available — surprising for a health spa. I had to queue at the coffee shop to buy one instead, where the staff member was rude and looked like she’d had a rough night. Breakfast itself was nice, but several items had run out, and we had to wait around 20 minutes to be seated, even though we’d booked a time slot. Overall, the setting is lovely, but the service, cleanliness, and upkeep really let Champneys down. It felt overcrowded, poorly managed, and nowhere near the relaxing luxury experience I’ve come to expect.

Very unwelcoming greeting on reception. Mis informed about food service times so had to go out for food as they had closed both the cafe and restaurant earlier than we were told they would. Highly recommend the Akeman in Tring for warm and welcoming staff, professional and serving delicious food. The bathroom in the hotel room was incredibly tired, the bath panel had a huge gaping hole as did the bottom of the bathroom door. There are no over head lights in the bedroom, just very very dim sidelights. The spa pool had a lot of limescale. The bed was very large and comfy. If you can get a voucher then maybe give it a go. Personally I wouldn’t spend full price on it again. Very expensive for what we actually got.

I liked all the spa facilities and pools the treatments were excellent. The gardens and flowers were very beautiful and added luxury the building is also were charming and adds to the whole country escape feel . The food could’ve been a bit better at times but that’s just me being picky .We had an amazing time and so easy to get to from London too very grateful Thank you

A beautiful property, rooms that we didn’t find until the end of our stay. Beautiful grounds and facilities. Hoping to return in the near future! Everyone appeared nice and friendly.

Nice hotel, I would say Marriott level, worth £155 for a Monday night. I did leave a piece of property in my room and I called them at least half a dozen times to see if they had it but no-one picked up

The staff on site are helpful. Room 168 (1st floor), clean, comfortable & basic. Having no drinking water in the room is surprising. Usual basic tea/coffee supplies in room. Poor nights sleep due to a fluorescent picture light that would not turn off & remained on all night -apparently an electrical fault. Reception was not answering the phone probably due to it being after 11pm & this meant I had to put a towel over the light to lessen the florescent glow & this meant poor sleep. I reported this when checking out & a very helpful staff member suggested I notify management via an email. The pool & spa facilities are good. Breakfast was included & is good. But in this day & age is there still a need to serve awful coffee? Champneys have an additional extra charge real coffee menu -all a bit reminiscent of the Ryanair business model. It's a shame as the staff are lovely & it's set in beautiful surroundings (Tring in Hertfordshire).
