We recently stayed at the Radisson Blu Athlone and had a mixed experience.
On the positive side, the property is lovely, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the location is excellent. The staff were courteous and helpful throughout our stay.
However, our biggest disappointment was that the hotel is simply not equipped for warm summer weather. At €250 per room per night (we had booked three rooms), we expected air conditioning as a standard amenity. Unfortunately, there was no AC, and when we asked for a table fan, we were told the hotel had run out.
To make matters worse, the windows only open slightly for safety reasons, so there was almost no airflow or ventilation. The rooms became unbearably hot, and some of us could get to sleep until around 3–4 a.m.
There was also a wedding taking place during our stay, and the music and noise continued late into the night, making it even harder to rest.
Overall, it's a beautiful hotel with great staff and facilities, but if you're visiting during the summer or are a light sleeper, be aware that the lack of air conditioning and limited ventilation can significantly impact your stay. At this price point, I would expect better temperature control and sound management.
