Nice pool area with good availability of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Breakfast buffet excellent with lots of food choices. Great location with many restaurants nearby. Balcony nice and scenic but only downsides were the limited privacy due to the balcony layouts and noise from activities below in the bar area.

This hotel was truly special. The decor was very chic. It catered to a more trendy, youthful traveler. Though, families found great pleasure here as well. Regret not staying here longer. Excellent stay.

Due to the power outage we couldn't get to Lisbon. They charged us anyway and have ignored my requests. Happy Honeymoon and DON'T STAY at Hotel Baia Azul

I recently stayed at Hotel Baía Azul in Madeira for four nights. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but there were a few aspects that could be improved. Pros: • Spacious and Clean Room: The room was large and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. • Excellent Location: The hotel’s location is ideal, offering easy access to local attractions and amenities. • Friendly Staff: The hotel staff were courteous and exhibited a friendly demeanor throughout my stay. Cons: • Additional Charges for In-Room Safe: I was surprised to find that using the in-room safe incurred an extra fee of €15. • Unexpected City Tax: Despite booking through Expedia and Agoda, both of which indicated that all fees and taxes were included, I was charged an additional €4 per night as a city tax upon arrival. • Breakfast Beverages: The fruit juices served at breakfast did not taste fresh, and the quality of the coffee was disappointing. • Tea Bag Replenishment: While a selection of tea bags was provided on the first day, they were not replenished on subsequent days. • Balcony Access Issue: The room featured a beautiful terrace, but the reception did not activate our key card for terrace access until the last day, which was an inconvenience. In summary, while Hotel Baía Azul offers comfortable accommodations in a prime location with attentive staff, attention to these details would enhance the overall guest experience.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful area and pool area was lovely and clean. The night porter that checked us in after a diverted flight was very friendly and offered us some food before the breakfast area even opened for thr morning. Staff throughout were very friendly. Only that the hotel was booked out we would have stayed at the

Stay here if you want: - nice pools & views - elegant hotel facilities - quantity over quality breakfast - unfriendly service (at reception, remaining employees are friendly) - construction work in front of rooms that are 'mountain view' - no spa access "because of covid" (surprisingly spa of all other hotels on Madeira are open) - no free parking

Always wanted to stay at this hotel and I’ll certainly be going back. Beautiful cliff-side setting with gorgeous views, sun terrace, on-site spa and gym, great pools - loved it. Having to pre-book limited breakfast times and use of the gym was annoying but this was a Covid-secure measure as the hotel was fully booked during my stay. You wouldn’t regret staying here. Highly recommend!

What an amazing, well located, beautiful hotel. Every aspect was faultless and the staff friendly and helpful. The Christmas decorations were magnificent and the New Year Gala top class.

This is our second stay at the Baia Azul. The hotel is modern and clean with good facilities, friendly staff and great food. Nicely located and with a free shuttle bus into Funchal. Highly recommended.

Loved just about everything. A fully remodeled hotel with an amazing interior design. Great views. Super clean. Great water pressure. Location and access to bus line and the West side of Funchal. Beds a little on stiff side but linen was a good grade. AC stuck on "heat" and customer service was terrible with correcting the issue and accommodating. Their response was to turn it off and "just open the window."

Likes. - lovely location with terrific sea views if you take the right room. Efficient, friendly reception staff. Comfortable room with facilities provided clean and in working order. Free shuttle bus 3 times a day to avoid the forty minute walk into Funchal. Convenient for some nice local restaurants and Supermarket. Dislikes. - no information about hotel facilities or area in the room. No iron. Had to buy one locally. Charged 13 euros for the use of the safe in the room. Breakfast was only 2/3 star. Coffee and juice from machines was completely undrinkable. Ended up just having fruit and toast and then going back to room to drink coffee bought locally.

We arrived into a large, light, airy reception with welcoming staff, a great start to our holiday. Our room was spacious, had ocean views and the bed was large and comfortable. It was also pleasing to see tea making facilities as these aren't always available outside the UK. Breakfast was buffet style and excellent. I enjoyed using the gym although there could have been a few more weights and a couple of mats. The regular complimentary shuttle bus into the city centre was a bonus

This is a great hotel, fairly recently refurbished and in a great location. It is close to lots of good restaurants, and a short bus ride to central Funchal. I would highly recommend it, and we will definitely go back.

Very pleasant. Was quiet, decent location and very comfortable. Lots of decent restaurants nearby with many more in Funchal (20 min walk or 5 mins on bus). Venture off the main street though. Lots of good place off side streets. Not great deal to see in Funchal but recommend the cable car. The sightseeing tour is a bit of a waste of time and not too cheap- £15. Would highly recommend the island bus tour- various ones a valuable. I took the tour covering both sides of the island. Interesting guide and nice lunch included for £40. You see more than you would in a hire car- and the roads can be a nightmare ! Very restful and enjoyable week. But one week was enough.
