Loved the hotel and restaurant, such a beautiful building and rooms, outside lovely too, with croquet, giant chess and hoopla. Food was very nice, we had evening meal and breakfast. Staff friendly and attentive too. We’re definitely coming back. Fab location.

The cottage is very dirty and has a strong unpleasant smell — it really needs a deep cleaning. The service is not professional, and the food is poor

Disappointing for 500$ a night. Shower doesn’t get warm. WiFi doesn’t work. Breakfast was included but didn’t taste great. There was no beautiful garden or walking area around the property like I imagined and when I asked the front desk the walking path pamphlet they gave me is a dangerous one car road with no footpath. On my own I discovered that the sister property across the street has a decent walking path along the river. It just doesn’t match up the expectations created by their website. This feels like a 3 star hotel not 5 star.

Bedroom not well ventilated as only a small window in bedroom which could only be opened slightly. Everywhere looked a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. WiFi took long time to connect. Poor reception on TV in room. Not sure how this hotel has a 5 star rating.

FALSE ADVERTISING: I selected the Old Swan Hotel specifically because the listing on Expedia stated that the property offered air conditioning—an essential amenity for my stay. Upon arrival and check-in, I immediately noticed that the room was uncomfortably warm. I searched for the air conditioning controls but could not locate any. I then approached the front desk to inquire, and the receptionist informed me that the hotel does not have air conditioning in any of its rooms. This directly contradicts the information provided the Expedia site at the time of booking. This discrepancy constitutes false advertising and significantly impacted the comfort and quality of my stay. I feel misled by the inaccurate listing and believe this situation reflects a bait-and-switch experience.

A disappointing stay overall. Here’s why: We had two room, one for me one for my mother. 1. There’s not enough staff, we had to wait for someone to assist us every time we went to reception. There was always a wait at the bar because there was only ever one person serving. 2. On the evening of check in, my mother was asked to change rooms the next day since a mistake was made in their system. 3. If you’re thinking of doing some work while there, forget it. The WiFi will not connect. I waited overnight until it finally work, the staff just shrug and say there’s nothing they can do. 4. The restaurant menu is disappointing. Fish and chips and burgers and pasta. Nothing special and not even reasonable prices. The staff are young and untrained, they leave cutlery on the table that you won’t use. 5. The gents toilet was dirty. The toilet was not cleaned whilst I was there. See photo. Toilet brush was filthy. 6. The garden furniture with old and rickety. A large garden umbrella blew over one afternoon and nearly hit a guest. 7. Room change late, came back from a day out at around 4.30 and room had not yet been made up. Overall, it feels like they are running the place on a limited budget and cutting corners. It’s not really a professionally run hotel, disappointing. Could be so much better.

Beautiful setting, room was nice and just basic amenities considering it was £300+ for the night there was no added extras. Nothing particularly stand out for this hotel. Breakfast was very slow and food ok. No phone signal, and wifi very poor.

After visiting the pub before checking in, things looked promising, it was very lovely and cosy. We checked in and were shown to our 2 rooms, through the side entrance. The entry way was dark tired and messy. The rooms at first glance looked lovely when first shown them, however once we had settled in the rooms were tired, dark and dirty. Lots of stains on the walls, floors and soft furnishings. The bathroom of the Harold was boiling, what was first thought to be underfloor heating was instead confirmed as the hot pipes, it was unbearable and heated the room up too. The Simpson room was dusty and no slippers were supplied but some old used ones were found in the dressing table drawer. The advert said there was air conditioning in both rooms, there was not. The Harold room was by a gate which was right next to a gate which was being used constantly. Both rooms were underneath family’s and a child could be heard running around. Other guests were not considerate of others in their rooms and so we were awake from around 6am. A poor hotel and a poor stay! Do not recommend.

Good venue for dog owners. Adjacent fields and walks . Bedrooms for dog owners a little tucked away . Gorgeous food but pricey . Breakfast good but let down by tepid coffee and cheap bread for toast . Overall very comfortable.

Excellent location in charming countryside and just a short drive to Witney and Burford. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Historic property with traditional pub feel, a log fire, cosy armchairs and nice gardens. Food in the pub was standard pub fare, fairly average and expensive but you are paying for the location. We had a lovely stay here.

Although understanding it’s an old place, the bathrooms needed desperately updating and a deep clean. This was due to mold and heavy dust. WiFi didn’t work day 1 but did day 2.

Not all rooms are as indicated in the photos. We booked a Deluxe Room based on the photos on the website. Upon arrival we were given a room with low ceilings and only a few beams. We requested the room, as shown on the website, which is called the Early and they did move us to that room. The second night we had no heat in the room and it was cold. The manager came up and said he’d contact maintenance. After a while we went to check on things and told that maintenance was not attending that night and they brought us two heaters, which basically did nothing. We ended up putting one near the bathroom to try to heat up the bathroom. When we mentioned in the morning that the heaters didn’t really help, we received a “sorry about that”. We feel that some type of discount should of been at the very least offered. Would we stay there again, probably yes but we would make sure that the heating works.

One night stay in a superior room with king size bed. Comfortable room with heating on full so turned down radiators. Kettle and Coffee machine but no milk so fetched some. Nice bar area and large dining hall. Prebooked dinner at Mill House which is sister hotel and across the road and had breakfast there as no chef turned in.
