Excellent service! Friendly staff, very clean and spacious room and in the centre of all amenities. Highly recommend this hotel!

Bed bugs!! Woke up in the middle of my first night with bites all over my neck, face and arms. Bed bugs crawling inside the bed! Didn't sleep that night and had to quickly pack and change rooms at 3 AM. First the night manager said to go back to bed. But then he relented when I showed him photos of blood and bugs on the sheets. Ruined my short vacation in Lucca as I couldn't sleep the next day wondering what was lurking in the bed... Had to inspect everything carefully - clothes, suitcase, shoes for days. And the itching and discomfort from the bug bites lasted almost 2 weeks. They said sorry and promised a refund. I contacted them about 10 times to follow up but they never sent me anything. I first thought they were sincere but now I find it hard to believe they were actually serious about it because they weren't very responsive and didn't seem to try very hard. Furthermore they kept suggesting how inconvenient the bed bugs were THEM, and how people keep bringing them in! Newsflash: it's your customers who are the most affected, and it's not up to us to bear the brunt of your inconveniences. A refund would be start, at the very least.

The hotel is in an excellent location; the rooms were spacious and clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

Very effusive welcome at check-in and help to park. Junior suite room very spacious, bed large and comfortable, I liked my pillow, OH didn’t like his. Room and bathroom clean. Hardwood floors meant wilderbeest occupants of room above kept us awake at all hours; must be migration time. Breakfast plentiful with many good things (including Prosecco) but real juice is extra, very odd. Best to stick to Italian breakfast ingredients IMO. Lucca is very compact within the walls so nowhere is very far to walk but this is a well located hotel very close to the famous San Michele. It isn’t an “excellent” hotel in the luxury category but it is very competitively priced and good value.

We loved our week at San Luca Palace Hotel and we cannot thank the staff enough for their help and assistance with any small request. We felt so welcome and hope to return at some stage. Special thanks to the breakfast team and their wonderful coffee!!!

Really friendly and helpful. Went in night before to say we were checking in next day. Barbara really nice and said would store luggage on arrival, the room was actually available and given to us at 10.30 am on arrival Only had one night as had been staying in another hotel in Lucca. Room was quiet, clean and had everything you needed. Breakfast was good Stored luggage until our departure later in day.

First impression was it had a musty smell in the foyer but room was not as bad. Checkin was rushed. Staff were not accomodating or friendly and not helpful at all in fact could be rude, especially a staff member at the bar. Room was very spacious. Cleaning was rushed, beds not done and floor was always dirty. Location was good just within the walls and easy to get around. Breakfast was excellent. For the price you pay would expect better staff who are happy to share information of their city.

Older, but very well maintained hotel in a very old city. Has European charm, with hardwood floors. The beds aren’t particularly comfortable (very stiff). Bicycles are available from the hotel free of charge and is a wonderful way to sightsee the city day or night. I would recommend this hotel if you are with car, but make sure you reserve parking space before arrival.

Great historical hotel with spacious rooms and nice furnishings/design. The concierge was lovely and the breakfast was spectacular. I got a great deal on a large room and would definitely stay there again when I’m in Lucca. I also liked the outdoor patio where you can people walk and just relax. Close to the city center and about a 17 minute walk from the train station. Shoutout to Leonardo at the front desk who was a gem.
