Great hotel in a stunning town. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food in the restaurant was delicious. Highly recommend, although be warned driving through the narrow streets is a challenge!

The staff was amazing. Their personal interest in our comfort and enjoyment of stay was noteworthy. The restaurant food quality was excellent. Order their house wine, it was perfect for the homemade pasta dishes

Very friendly staff and perfect location. The pillows were too thin, but apart from that will happily stay there again next time.

We enjoyed our 2 day stay in this rather out of the way hotel but it is a fine base for exploring round Etna. Good value and excellent dinner. Unfortunately we were locked out at 10.15pm after going for an evening stroll so I would suggest that a key be provided or a staff member be on duty. We did get in eventually after attracting the attention of another guest!

This is the second time that we have stayed in this hotel and we enjoyed as much as the first time. The food was delicious. In our second week we went to another part of Sicily, but could not find any food which compared with Federico II. The hotel is situated at the top of a beautiful, very peaceful medieval town perched on the top of a hill, with dramatic views of Mount Etna. We are looking forward to visiting a third time!

Our GPS could not find the hotel due to Expedia forwarding the abbreviated name of the street on which the inn is located. A call to the hotel's front desk resulted in the appearance, within minutes, of a staff member in his car, ready to guide us to the hotel and help us park. We were able to converse in English with the multi-lingual family that owns the hotel, and found them to be helpful and hospitable. Our room had shutters opening on to a balcony, giving us a lovely view of a medieval street and a glimpse mountains in the background. The room was not as modern as the pictures made it seem, but it was comfortable and immaculate. The WiFi worked perfectly throughout the building, and free parking on the Piazza was a bonus. The breakfast offerings were the usual; nothing special. However, in the evening the restaurant downstairs serves delicious dinners with hearty portions, at fair prices. The house wine is a bargain.

We booked for two nights but stayed for three and would have stayed for five except we wanted to sample agrotourismo. Lovely hotel with excellent staff and a great restaurant. Very good overall value. The roads up to the top of the village a very narrow but this is not a problem and the hotel is easy to find if you follow the signs.

My daughter and I enjoyed a holiday sleeping in this wonderful medieval town in the mountains. It was very quiet, the hotel and the owners (family run) was very nice and made us feel welcome. We rented a car which is necessary if you like to go to the beach and see other places and we were around every day. Around 8pm we drove the scenic roads to "our town" in the mountains and we ate almost every night at the restaurant which served superb home made food. It was a very relaxing holiday and we will give hotel Federico our best recomondation.

We stayed three nights and ate breakfast and an evening meal. We found the hotel suited our needs - the room was spacious with a small balcony looking out over the rooftops of Castiglione which is a very beautiful little town. The family running the hotel are attentive and hardworking. Food and wine were really good. Everything was good quality and there was easy parking in a very central position. You can walk out from the hotel into the best parts of town in moments. It is a very quiet place with twelve churches - all of which were closed when we were there sadly as they are well worth seeing. But there is still plenty to delight here. Castiglione is a bit run down and needs a few improvements - the community seem to be divided in their attitudes to tourism. It is a good place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle of Taormina - we ended up not going at all as we liked it so much in Castiglione and Francavilla and then we moved on around Etna and explored the rest of eastern Sicily.

Located in the "middle of nowhere" with very nice landscape and not far from Mount Etna. If you just want to spend time at the beach, book something closer to Taormina. Very clean rooms, nice stuff. Breakfast is avarage.

Very nice and quiet hotel. The staff are very kind and help you in everything you might think of about Sicily. The rooms are very clean and also modern. Its location is a bit difficult at first to find but once found its very easy to get to. If you hire a car hire a mini size car as the streets near the hotel are very narrow. The food is also very good. A very good hotel in my opinion. Try it and you will not regret it.

Lovely family hotel set in a picturesque hill top town providing easy access to Etna and it's surrounding area. Great service and freindly staff helped make our week stay an enjoyable one. The hotel was spotless and kept very clean, the hotel Restaurant provided very good local food and local wine, so good we ate there every night. A little hard to find the hotel initially but you soon find your way up and down the narrow streets. Would reccomend to others wanting a good base to explore the beautiful Etna region and even the Eastern coastline, Taormina is only approx 40 mins away, Giardini Naxos 30 mins by car.

The minute I saw The Hotel Federico II on Expedia I knew that was the place to stay...This was my first time to Italy and I wanted to capture the authenticity and culture and lifestyle. My fiancé and I were extremely pleased at the warm and cozy appearance of the hotel....the hosts & hostess' made us feel like we were family a home away from home, with their friendly service and helpful hints to make our dream vacation a memory that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend The Hotel Federico II - we have traveled often and this hotel had to be one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. The food, amazing. The rooms spotless. The service impeccable, all this in a hotel nestled in the quaint town of Castileone, with its cobblestone streets and historic sites. It is centrally located in the mountains with spectacular scenery of Sicily. The hotel is close to many attractions including, Mt. Etna and Taormina which we visited often during our 8 day stay...Can't wait to go back!

Very friendly and accommodating staff in a fine little hotel, with a little restaurant with nice wines and a great grilled veal. Driving the narrow paths that lead to this peak location is no easy task but this is a lovely place to experience the upper part of this mysterious village.
