The old charm and character of Hawley House makes it a very nice place to stay and explore the area.

Sophie is an excellent host. We had a lovely stay at Hawley House. It is peaceful, with spectacular views, and a lovely breakfast with homemade bread and condiments.

Lovely setting and a big historical old building that was full of interesting features. Probably due for some maintenance, but still a great stay.

The staff were super friendly and very helpful and very interesting property. I would stay again if driving a car. The grounds and parking are very limiting for motorcycle travellers unless on adventure or dirtbike. There is no keeping your bikes up near you room and the gravel was quite deep and loose. Very difficult to manoeuvre and load and unload your bikes while travelling you wouldn’t want to go out for a bite to eat and venture home in the dark.

The grounds are amazing! Lake, garden, flowers, amazing beach, mountains, view, sunrise, birds. The owner takes very great care of the guests. Bonus: bathtub on the roof! What could be improved: property could use some upgrades.

Upon arrival I was berated for not ringing door bell. I was distracted by three large dogs laying in door way and missed the sign. Then one of her dogs went for my dog and my partner had to drag the dog’s apart. It was all in all the worse accommodation we had in Tasmania.

Nothing like it in Tasmania. Steeped in history, superb coastal location with beautiful beaches a minute’s walk away. The host is wonderful and the restaurant meals are generous and exquisitely presented. Wonderful art, old world drawing room for pre dinner drinks and a lovely old library. A touch bohemian and totally loveable!

The house is beautifully presented with intricate and historical details everywhere. The owner of the hotel is very friendly, helpful and always happy to share her favorite holiday spots with you. Our suite was beautiful, clean, and tastefully decorated. The restaurant, library and the play room are VERY impressive and photogenic. We also enjoyed playing with Sophie's 3 big puppies. My favorite is Rogue. She is so friendly to people and always wants you to play with her or pet her. Hawley Beach is just on yhe other sode of the road. It is very beautiful and great for kids.

Hawley House is an experience! It doesn't have all the mod cons, but it more than makes up for that with beauty, charm, amazing grounds, fabulous position and unbelievable view. It's got three things that my family loved: three lovely dogs, an antique grand piano in very good condition and a roof top bath (not accessible from all rooms; best to request). Going to Hawley House is definitely stepping back in time. The perfect place if you like character and surprises.

A beautiful house that is 145 years old. So much business potential in the site itself. The site itself can be an interesting tourist attraction on its own. A beautiful lake filled with lotus plants behind the main structure. Lots of wildlife, peacocks and wallabies were seen during our stay there. Beautiful garden, mysterious crooks and crannies worth exploring. There is a hall next to the main structure which i think is used as a wedding hall. Sophie looked after us very well. Her 3 dogs were very friendly. Our kids loved playing with the dogs. Room was very clean and well maintained for a 145 year old house. There was a bath tub on the roof which was accessible from the living room of our family suite upstairs. I have no idea why there is a bath tub on the roof but i had to see it myself. I climbed a few flights of stairs attached to the roof and reached the top most of the house and there it was, an open air bath tub with a million dollar view. Lol! I love the vintage decors and furnishings in our room and throughout the house. They are so gorgeous. Took a lot of photos of the whole place.
