Beautiful hotel which should have been a memorable experience however one person at the front desk totally ruined our whole experience. Golden rule of hospitality is first impression is everything and your front of office is always first impression. We were treated so poorly by the rude, unhelpful, unkind and actually nasty front of desk manager that we will never return nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. There were numerous incidents regarding directions to the parking garage, to my knowledge of directions, to access to the sauna, to the WiFi which was not working , to luggage access to our room up two flights of stairs…but the cherry on the top was when I called reception to let them know there was no “soap” in the bathroom was that I was told I “must come downstairs to get it.” I don’t care this is a 5 star establishment…no hotel 1 or 5 star has no soap in the bathrooms and then tells you to fetch it. When said person whom I shall not name realised by the tone in my voice that that was the final straw, he quickly ran up to the room with a bar of soap. I always read reviews for hotels before I book and the first 10 reviews for Villa Mazarin are all 5 star! Once I started reading further after my encounter with this rude staff member it became clear this is an ongoing serious problem at this establishment. The next morning at the hotel I was told hey are aware of the problem and he is a problem. Sort out your rude staff or Villa Mazarin is not worth visiting

This hotel has a lovely courtyard, large confortable rooms with a large bathroom, a convenient location, and some of the nicest food we have had in the south of France. You cannot go wrong with Villa Mazarin. The dinner was delicious and drinks tasty. When you walk the walls ans ramparts be sure to look in at the villa from above for a lovely perspective.

A beautiful hotel located inside Aigues des Mortes. The room was beautiful and well appointed. The bathroom was huge and the shower was nice but it didn’t have handicap assist bars which made it difficult to get in and out of the shower. The desk staff wasn’t the greatest for a 5 star hotel, just doing the minimum and not offering anything in the way of suggestions of instructions for parking. The dining area and inside patio are gorgeous. Breakfast was mediocre but passable. Served at the table…. I had a pot of scrambled eggs, one piece of salmon, some fruit, and coffee. The fortress is very nice and the town is pleasant. Had nice meals in local restaurants and toured the area by jeep and got up close to the bulls and white horses. The tour was excellent.

Beautiful hotel, spacious room and bathroom, excellent bedding, welcoming staff. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool which was bigger than what we thought based on the pictures. The courtyard is lovely spacious. As onsite Parking was full when we checked in, the hotel lent us a discount card for a nearby parking which worked fine for us. Book parking ahead if you prefer to avoid walking. If I had one recommendation to make would be for the hotel to find a solution for guests “reserving” sunbeds. In the end, we could not use them.

Stayed for 5 nights in this classic hotel. The courtyard garden is beautiful, a lovely place to dine and the pool is the perfect temperature to cool down after a hot day sightseeing. Friendly & helpful staff.

We received a friendly welcome. We arrived early but were able to leave our bags and go and explore the fabulous walled city. We had room 29 which was on the 1st floor and overlooked the beautiful garden. We enjoyed a swim in the pool and a dip in the jacuzzi. Dinner was well presented a very tasty. Great breakfast. The bedroom was very spacious and comfortable. The decor throughout was very tasteful and right for place.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience, especially considering this is supposedly a 5-star hotel. First, no parking support was offered by staff other than to point to a map, then after we figured out our own parking and dragged our luggage in from a decent distance, the concierge and other staff watched us walk in, continued their chat, and no one offered help. No one showed us to our room nor showed us how to use the unintuitive lock system for the door. When we tried to access the hotel wifi, neither my partner nor I could access it (despite having had no prior issues at other hotels), and the concierge merely shrugged when we asked for assistance. In our room, the TV would turn on by itself, and when we tried to use it, it froze and rebooted itself every 10-40 seconds. The shower handle fell off when touched. We brought these concerns to our concierge, and again, he merely shrugged and said we could just unplug the TV. A lot of other minor complaints that would matter less if this hotel were not representing itself as 5-star quality: instant coffee only, small slippers that don't fit average men's feet, no phone in the room to call reception, heated towel rack did not work, nowhere to put shampoo bottles or soap in the shower other than the floor. We have enjoyed our stays at far less expensive hotels with friendly and helpful staff. Pretentiousness is not the same as 5-star quality.

There is no better hotel in Camargue. In a quiet corner of the citadel, within easy walking distance of all shops and cafes and restaurants as well as a quick exit onto the salt marshes and biking trails. Aigues mortes is definitely the best place to be in Camargue and the villa Mazarin is a wonderful property to experience the medieval occitan experience. Merci to all the Wonderfull staff
