Unfortunately, this hotel felt cheap and outdated despite the price charged. Yes, the location is excellent, right in Grindelwald and close to the train station, and the mountain view from the balcony is beautiful. However, compared to other older hotels we stayed at in Zermatt and Pontresina, this hotel fell far short of expectations. The walls are paper thin — you can hear your neighbours very clearly. The room is extremely small and not particularly functional. The bathroom and shower are so tiny that they are difficult to use comfortably. Overall, everything feels low quality, from the artificial plastic flowers in the reception area to many aspects of the room itself. As we were dissatisfied, we inquired about shortening our stay and receiving a partial refund for one or two nights. The receptionist was kind and offered to discuss the matter with the manager, but our request was ultimately refused without much explanation or flexibility. While the location and view are definite positives, the overall experience did not meet our expectations for the price paid.

The property is a few steps away from the train and bus station so this makes it very convenient for moving about. The breakfast is really good with lots of options. If you’re travelling on a budget, you can get food from Coop and the breakfast room can be used to warm or have your meal (especially convenient when travelling in groups because the rooms are not very large). They even provide cutlery/ plates and cups.

It was small little cute hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. Only one issue, it was very hot, no air conditioning. Though they provided us a very small fan which was not enough. Otherwise it was great place to stay.

Pros - near the station, great view of Eiger Cons - room service is not good, microoven is not acceusible after 9, they have rules like hostel, wifi is terrible.

We reached a day late and were almost close to the checkout time, even then the reception allowed us to check in and freshen up. The reception staff was very cordial and courteous enough to guide us through our stay and pointed us in the direction to visit places which otherwise we would have missed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Bernerhof. The room was tidy, comfortable, and adequate, as we did not spend much time in the room. It was a little small, so if traveling with several large bags, you may choose to consolidate, or unpack and stow bags. The breakfast was plentiful and standard. We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, they are bilingual, and were flexible with us within reason for travel/walking/parking arrangements. There are only about 8 dedicated spaces, which was not an issue while we traveled outside of peak seasons. It may be worth reserving during peak if you plan to have a car. Once you park though, there is no reason to drive as the hotel is quite walkable to all train and gondola stations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Bernerhof for the friendly staff and location!

Clean rooms, excellent staff, breakfast was excellent, get the Mountain View room, the view of Mt. Eiger was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying when visiting Grindelwald.

From check-in to leaving, staff, facilities, location, and amenities were spot-on. If you're traveling to Grindelwald, this is the place to stay.

We were upgraded to the Panorama Suite complete with lounge room, full width panoramic windows and balcony. Could ask for better views of the mountains. Staff were great and buffet breakfast was great. A must stay at this hotel.

We had at wonderful stay at Hotel Bernerhof Grindelwald. The staff was amazing, including Lias, Cristine, Christina, the dark haired girl that helped with breakfast, and the gentleman that cooked breakfast and helped during breakfast. The location is great for skiing because it is right across the street from the train station and bus stop. The views from our balcony room were wonderful. The best part about the hotel was the service we received from the staff. Breakfast was very good. It was a great stay and my husband and I look forward to coming back.

Excellent location. Good breakfast, although repetitive after several days. Parking inconvenient, but usable. My biggest problem was that my laptop simply disappeared from the room on my departure day. When I emailed the hotel, I received no response, and when they didn't reply, I called and they simply said they didn't have it. Poor service in that regard. I couldn't return there.
