Very much a vintage hotel experience. I had an excellent mountain view, which I was able to enjoy from bed every morning. The cleaning crew were efficient and very good. The staff was very helpful with planning alternative hikes. I chose to walk the 800m from the train station, which for me was very doable. However, I am very fit and this may not be an option for everyone. The breakfast buffet was very good. I also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Nico's, which was excellent. It was my best dining experience in Kandersteg and during my stay in Switzerland. The spa was small, but clean and very relaxing. I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely re-visit if I come back to Switzerland.

Nice staff, quaint hotel

The room was not very clean. I dropped my book between the bed and the cabinet and my book was covered in dirt and fluff. We did not use the swimming pool - or should I say plunge pool. The online photo makes it seem like the pool is about 25m long but in fact it is more like 10m! The swimming pool is very dark and dingy and not at all inviting. It's a sham because we chose this hotel because it had a pool. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was great, a very good selection of muesli and breads. The hotel team were very helpful so I do feel mean giving this review but I do feel a bit tricked into thinking they had a nice pool.

First impression matters, we arrived super early before checkIn time, the front desk was unattended, I called for help and someone showed up with no friendly approach, I stated that I understood that we were early to check in and we wanted to see our options, she seemed annoyed with us, did reminded us that it was too early to check in again. I asked if we leave our bags and she took us to the room where we could leave our luggage until check in. I did not feel welcome at all. The property is nice, clean, comfortable beds and spacious room. The area was very quite for the time we were there, not everything was open, but we enjoyed it that way. Breakfast was good. In general it was a good stay but unfortunately the first impression was not good at all.

Rooms are comfortable and a good size. No fridge in room. Easy access to town, the train station and the gondola.

Beautiful views from room

Lovely family run hotel in a delightful small Swiss village. The owner is the chef at the restaurant, called Nico’s. We had two excellent dinners there.The reception staff are helpful and friendly.

Hours of operation were limited. When we got into our room, we found five bumblebees flying around the patio door.

One of the most beautiful spots in the world. Wonderful hotel, great food, and so welcoming. We enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and babies and dogs are also welcomed and celebrated.

Great service both at hotel and restaurant. Spacious, clean, tasteful room with great view. Some noise from the street Monday morning. Location very convenient for hikes and excursions around.

We added a stay in Kandersteg at the last minute and happened upon the hotel thru Hotels.com. It was an amazing hidden gem. The staff was very knowledgeable of the area and helpful. The restaurant serves us the best meal, a five course dining experience, we had in 12 days in France and Switzerland. The breakfast buffet was priced reasonable and had great offerings. And they provided the makings to create your own sandwiches for your hike or excursion for the day! The only negative I can add is the room is slightly dated. But still very roomy.
