Rooms were dirty and whole building seemed dirty and unclean. I checked out within 30 minutes of checking in and advised I would be refunded however the following day they decided they would not refund the stay and instead charged me for the full stay in a room which still had dust and rubbish from seemingly 10 years ago. Terrible place and do not recommend

Hi, My satisfaction with this stay at the hotel (and this is not my first time here) is quite low. The dry sauna was out of order throughout the entire six-day stay, and the jacuzzi was also not functioning properly — it was essentially just a lukewarm bath, nothing more. Throughout the stay, only one elevator was working, which caused long waits and delays. But the worst part was when *both elevators* were out of service for an entire day! That’s simply unacceptable — how does a situation like that happen? We had to go up and down from the 5th floor almost constantly, either because of long waits or because neither elevator was working. Despite all this, I must say that the reception staff were kind and the breakfast was excellent. I expect compensation for the inconvenience caused by all these issues with the hotel facilities. It’s simply not respectful, and I will reconsider staying at this hotel during my next visit to Berlin.

Couldn’t even check in

My favorite place to stay in Berlin. Located one block from the Wittenberg-Platz U-Bahn station, so getting around the city is fairly easy. The rooms face the courtyard, so there is hardly any street noise. There are a number of restaurants and eating places in the area, and the hotel has a restaurant specializing in cuisine from the Caucasus region.

I really loved my stay at the Axel. The front desk team were so welcoming, friendly and helpful especially Ramona! I will be sure to stay at Axel hotels worldwide! Thank for an excellent holiday experience.

I was double-charged for city fees, and when I questioned them at checkout, the front desk person said, 'I see that you paid at check-in, but there's nothing I can do now to make a note.' The beds are hard and uncomfortable. It feels like an afterthought hotel. I've stayed at two other Axel locations, and this one is, by far, the worst. I would not recommend anyone to stay.

Axel Hotel has become worn & tired, and consequently poor value for money.

Loved this property, we had a junior suit and it did not disappoint. Lots of good quality restaurants within easy walking distance. It’s right on the edge of the gay area so could walk to lots of gay bars. Easy Uber transport into heart of Berlin for museums and other cultural visits. We would stay again.

This is my hotel for Berlin hands down! It’s in the gay district and surrounded by bars and restaurants and the metro is blocks away! Love this place and will stay again
