The room was clean and roomy and the breakfast had a lot of choices, but what impressed me the most was the service especially when I called the hotel when my rental car broke down two hours away and they arranged for a car to pick me up. That is service above and beyond.

This resort is quiet - just a short drive from the hustle of Siracusa. Do yourself a favour and enjoy the amenities a good resort offers and tomorrow head back to the crowds !

everything was good and Leila at the reception was so nice and helpful. I booked a 3 bed room but got 2 single beds (room 122 as far as I remember, next to the reception) and the toilet does not flush properly. all in all, I'm happy with this hotel.

Our stay was amazing. The hotel is conveniently located close to Syracuse and close from the beach and excellent restaurants. The rooms are comfortable the surrounding is beautiful. The food is exquisite and above all the staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

I would advise this resort. Very nice place with a nice swimming pool. The unique part of the place is the quiteness. Staff young and polite. Very nice welcome from the receptionist, super polite with a nice vibe.

The hotel itself is nice, relaxing resort feel. It is next to a lounge/restaurant and they had a party until late night and the hotel walls were paper thin so we heard the loud party throughout the night. Driving instructions are provided to get to the property but it is far from anything else especially food options. But otherwise the hotel is nice.

Hotel was fine, a little sparsely furnished. It just wasn’t all that good. Slightly in the middle of nowhere. Very few people staying there. Nothing really good or bad to say. Breakfast wasn’t bad.

We found the hotel lovely. Very relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast and restaurant were excellent. However, we found the staff unfriendly - in fact, one staff member communicated false information about us to another staff member which a third staff member overheard and conveyed back to us. It was very strange...but somewhat amusing.

Clean and comfortable but overrated in terms of layout, location and style.

Kalaonda is far from the 4 * it claims to be. It's clean and comfortable but with a pool by the car park, rooms stripped down to the bare minimum and at best offering views on alley-ways, it lacks the charm I was hoping for. And forget about its Relais du Silence label: lawn-mowing and swarms of kids around the pool offer little piece and quiet.

Stayed for 3 nights. Nice, if slightly remote setting yet in short distance to Syracuse (15 min drive). Rooms have more of a cottage feel and are furnished fairly simply. Our room had a bit of a damp smell to it. Outside area is great with a nice pool. Had dinner at the restaurant twice - good, basic Italian food, thought the fish dishes were especially nice.

I stayed at the hotel with my family just for one night during a Holiday in Sicily. I was very pleased with my choice, the family room was spacious and comfortable. The pool was beautiful and for the time that we were there had it practically to ourselves. A very relaxing setting, and I felt that we were made to feel welcome with the children free to play in the grounds. We did not eat at the restaurant due to the fact that we were there just for the night and wanted to eat out in Syracusa, but if we ever stayed again we would eat there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We looked forward to our stay at Kalaonda Plemmirio - the pictures and the description on the website looked very promising - but our stay was very disappointing. We are a family of four, and we had booked two rooms. The first room, on the ground floor, was musty, and the walls were humid (despite hot temperatures outside, in June). The second room did not have that problem, however, in both rooms, the air condition was not working, the phone was not working, and there was no wifi connection. Service was poor - reception staff was not helpful at all. We were having breakfast and dinner there, choices were very limited and quality mediocre. For the dinner, it took 45 minutes to even get some water for the table. Location is difficult as well - the hotel sits in the middle of farmland, with plastic greenhouses all around, and dogs (many!) from nearby farmhouses barking during the whole night. Given all the positive (older) reviews, this place must have changed considerably during recent years.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful pool , ideally situated for Siracusa and the beeches and sights of South East Sicily . The staff are extremely friendly and helpful , especially Matilda , who was able to tell us where to go and exactly how to get there .

The Kalaonda Plemmirio is a beautiful hotel set in a converted olive farm only a few minutes drive from Syracuse. Each room (actually a small suite with separate living and sleeping areas) is accessed from a courtyard that was kept spotless and swept every morning by the staff. The food both at breakfast and from the restaurant was excellent and the evening waiter is very knowledgeable about the local wines. The evening menu choice may seem a little restricted and slightly more expensive than elsewhere and, for a longer stay, you might want to try some of the sea front restaurants along the southern shore of Syracuse’s grand harbour, which are about five minutes drive from the hotel. As several other guests have commented, a car really is necessary to make the most of your stay here, but we found the hotel to be a superb choice for exploring Syracuse and the surrounding sites.

We spent two days early October 2010 in this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it . Because of the rural position use of a car is absolutely essential. They serve a lovely breakfast in the morning, however we only used the restaurant once as it was a bit over-priced. We found a really nice , well-priced pizzeria/ristorante closeby for dinner which was great. On the plus side everything else about the Kalaonda is excellent ; the staff are extremely friendly , polite and keen to help, despite the language barrier. We would definitely go back to this lovely place again.

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno di notti per 2 davvero piacevole al Kalaonda Resort, immerso in un contesto tranquillo e rilassante, ideale per chi cerca relax e buona qualità lontano dal caos di Siracusa/Ortigia. La struttura è ben curata, con spazi verdi ordinati e una piscina pulita e accessibile 9-19, perfetta per rinfrescarsi durante le ore più calde. Grandezza giusta per ospitare 20 persone a mollo con ognuno il proprio spazio. Un grande punto di forza è senza dubbio la cordialità, la disponibilità e la gentilezza del personale, sempre pronto a venire incontro alle esigenze degli ospiti con il sorriso. In particolare, ci teniamo a fare una menzione speciale a Corrado, la cui simpatia e accoglienza hanno reso il nostro soggiorno ancora più piacevole. La colazione è ottima e completa, con un’ampia scelta tra dolce e salato. Ottimo anche il rapporto qualità-prezzo, considerata la location, i servizi offerti e una posizione di 8 km da Ortigia e 1/2 dai vari lidi del Plemmirio. Consigliamo vivamente questo resort a chi cerca un luogo accogliente, tranquillo e gestito da persone che mettono davvero il cuore in quello che fanno. Non so se torneremo in quanto a noi piace girare e cambiare ma sicuramente lo consigliamo!
