This was not advertised correctly. We booked as air conditioning was included at the hotel and in the room we booked. Then they placed us in a room without - tiny, extremely hot room and we were not comfortable. Only thing they could offer was a fan, nothing else. We were then told we would hear back with refund options, but absolutely nothing has been done.

Little chance of sleeping in this hotel alongside a noisy road. It felt like our room was on top of the road! Badly designed bathroom. Not to be repeated.

Ground floor room perfect as I struggle to walk. It was rather warm when we were staying and I was extremely glad we brought our own fan as no fan/air con in room. Bed a bit hard for me, ended up with sore back. Room clean and bed beautifully made. They forgot about our bathroom on 2nd morning. Breakfast was ok. But get there early as it’s not big area and you could wait ages to get a coffee/tea. Staff very pleasant and polite. At the disabled parking I pointed out that a nasty accident was waiting to happen as there was an unmarked drop at the planters onto a path. Definitely needs to be highlighted. Overall, it was a decent stay. We stayed there as is near our daughters in Chinnor. Will be back.

The room was dirty and the bathroom tiles were loose The bed sheets were not properly ticked in. I don’t think I would stay in such a place against.

Room better than last time but not cleaning (hair etc on floor behind bathroom door). We went back as the breakfast was amazing last time but really not very good this time. A coach party had been in before us and everything needed topping up but was not topped up. Hardly any breads or pastries left, no yogurt and coffee machine was not working. Reception very good but waiter at breakfast grumpy. Not sure I would book again.

It is a nice hotel with character. The staff are very welcoming, especially the gentleman on reception who was extremely helpful and very engaging. The room was comfortable with a good bathroom and bed - perfect hardness of mattress - and very quiet. Dinner was good - a perfectly cooked piece of cod in an interesting sauce and good ice-cream. The wine selection lacks French wine by the glass completely and in general there are far too many New World wines - why this common obsession? European wines are better and come from nearer, so kinder to the environment too. The breakfast is not as good as it should be. Cheeses in small cellophane packing are simply not acceptable in a 4-star hotel. There was a very sparse fresh fruit salad - tinned peaches and apples in syrup. The juices are all third rate. The pastries are OK, but one would expect hams and cheeses fresh and unwrapped. And it is tiresome to have to do absolutely everything oneself, though I know this is common in many three-star hotels. This one has four stars. If it is effectively a buffet, it should be a much more varied one. The cooked food looked disgusting but I can't say what it was like - I didn't want any. I might have enjoyed a freshly poached egg, had there been someone to poach it for me. In a similar level establishment in say Germany, there would be someone MAKING egg dishes. I didn't complain - I didn't want to embarrass the charming staff.

I was staying at the Mercure, Lambert Hotel, Watlington on Tues 1st April this week for a business trip, prior to visiting the ercol Head Office in Princes Risborough. I arrived at 9pm after a long journey, to be told the food service was closed. I was eventually given some food. Also, I was disappointed to find that the gym was closed during my stay. Breakfast too was a bit hit and miss on service.

The place is awesome, we've been here a few times now, but the food we had on a Boxing day is terrible.

The stay was comfortable and we really enjoyed the breakfast. Room was spacious and large bed/pillows comfortable. Shower was amazing. Not everything was great however, the bath mat had mould on it and bizarrely there was body lotion in the shower and no shower gel. The organisation at breakfast needs to be thought about. Teacups and saucers are on the breakfast table which you have to take with you into another room to get your drink from a machine, it would be far more sensible to have cups/mugs next to the machine. If you have them on the table then hot drinks should be served to you. Great to have tea and coffee facilities in the room, however a bottle of water would really have been appreciated.
