Wish the beach was available. All the seaweed caused issues. Also since there was construction many of the restaurants were not open

This hotel was simply put, amazing !!! Me and my family had an absolute wonderful time here from start to finish. This is a great family friendly hotel. The hotel itself is gigantic with many fantastic pools with swim up bars and beach access. The restaurants and food are great!! The buffet is super clutch and the French and Thai restaurant are delicious. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Always refilling your drinks and always available for help. The rooms are great !! Huge, cool, great beds and showers, and free mini bar with drinks that gets re-stocked everyday. 1 thing I wish they had, was food by the pools. Also 1 thing about the hotel, it is HUGE so get ready to walk! Overall I highly recommend this hotel. Great food, rooms, pool, night shows and service. A great experience for me and my family and we can’t wait to go back !! Thanks Grand Princess Riviera!!!

We just returned from a 10-day stay at the Princess Grand Riviera, and unfortunately, it was far from the relaxing vacation we had hoped for. First and foremost, the resort is under major construction — something we weren’t made aware of beforehand. The work happening at the neighboring Princess Sunset is directly affecting the pool area with constant noise and limited access. It really took away from the atmosphere. The beaches were another major letdown. They were completely covered in seaweed and not swimmable at all during our stay. We ended up driving about 30 minutes to a beach club just to find clean, swimmable water. That really added time, effort, and cost we weren’t expecting. The food was incredibly repetitive and honestly not very good. We ate the same few things every single night to the point where we couldn’t take it anymore. We ended up eating dinner off-resort at Fifth Avenue five times just to have something decent and different. We had stayed at this resort years ago and had a great experience, but this time was such a disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until the construction is finished, the food is improved, and the beach is actually usable again.

This place is beautiful, unfortunately right now half of the property is under construction so we had less access to some nice areas.

The staff was amazing and resort was beautiful. It sucked that we couldnt hang out on the beach because the sea grass was horrible and took over the beach. Gift shop is so expensive 32 dollars for sun screen and 50 for a floatie I ger raising prices a little but that is ridiculous

Property needs a lot of maintenance. Broken pool tiles, dirty worn down swimouts, Leaky roof.. Beach was not useable during our stay (seaweed), however was not specified on Expedia or Hotel Website. It would be forthcoming to your guest what is happening. Contruction in many areas, main pool closed not aware Watch out for fruit that falls from trees as it makes walkways very slippery with no caution signs posted. Concierge made mistake on our dinner reservations, but we were blamed that it was our fault, and basically made to wait longer because we wanted argue our point. Rooms were smelly due to seaweed, were downgraded to other rooms without any refunds, appologies but just the impression we were lucky to even receive different rooms and were lucky to keep our platinum status and perks (wristband). The Rivera Maya is a beautifuly place which made the vacation worthwhile. However the accomidations, hotel management and put the damper on a perfect vacation.

This was the worst resort we’ve ever stayed at. Where do I even begin?!? For starters, I called a couple weeks before to confirm that the beach was accessible and being cleaned of seaweed and they told me yes, the beach was very clean. They also never mentioned that 80% of the resort was shut down for repairs, including pools, restaurants, and activities. When we arrived the smell from the beach told us everything we need to know. We couldn’t even access the water. There was only one usable pool and all the palapas around it were collapsing so no shade for pool chairs. This was all after we arrived and were told that due to an Expedia error we needed to pay $1700 more upon check-in since our children didn’t register on the reservation. When I disputed it the manager came down and told us it was actually going to be $2600 more and if we didn’t pay it he would t let us check in. Meanwhile I had all the receipts from Expedia to prove we booked the accommodation for all four people in our party but three hours later they still wouldn’t allow us to check in. They claim this happens all the time but after talking to other guests I now know that this was a scam they pull to get more money out of people who “look like they can afford it!” To say I’m disgusted with them is the understatement of the year! We had no choice but to pay the extra money. The food was atrocious. No dinner reservations were ever available. The room was never cleaned. We left and went to Cozumel for the rest.

The landscape was beautiful, other than that I do not recommend. I will not return to this resort again. This is not a 5 star resort, in my opinion it’s more of a 4 star.

Beautiful resort! I chose the east coast of Mexico because I heard the beaches were incredible; apparently they are… from Nov-March… but not in July! We didn’t know about “seaweed season”, which we hit, so the beach was disgusting and smelled absolutely awful. However, the resort itself was wonderful! Lots of pools from which to choose, incredible food at the buffet and the many lovely restaurants, all on-site. The staff are all super friendly and helpful! If you want to leave the resort, you cannot just walk to another place, rather, you need to take a lengthy shuttle or cab. They offer lots of excursions at additional costs, but well worth going on them. The 60 min evening entertainment was great too; mostly dancing. The shows repeated after one week, but we enjoyed them the second week too. Half of this humongous resort was under construction, so there were tarps up and construction noise at times. The resort is so large that the half that we were on was not affected by the construction. We were, however, affected by a lot of noise from leaf blowers, trimmers and pressure washers, as well as music from the different pools during most of the day. In general it is was a louder resort. The other guest were also disrespectful of resort rules and chose to smoke and play loud music by the pool, and reserve chairs they did not use. Overall though, a great experience!
