Small quirky well equipped room, with nice welcoming tea and biscuits - very nice pub from which you collect keys next door but one. Bed comfy but slightly worn, bedside light did not work. Some noise from outside sounded like a pub or club party but went quiet shortly after midnight. The TV in the room switched itself on automatically at 06:18 in the morning waking me up, so I turned it off at the plug. The hotel itself has a lot of character. It is near the sea and plenty of shops and bars, cafes and so on.

Positives: Location was fantastic. Good shower. Negatives: Price extortionate (due to marathon day I assume). Room was very cold. No heating coming out of the radiators. Fridge was leaking water all over the floor. Cleaners were knocking on the door 15mins before checkout time.

I think I may have stayed in a different hotel to the one advertised on Hotels.com and other websites. Certainly my single room looked nothing like the photographs, it was very small, in need of upgrading (the sockets were coming off the wall), with a thinly mattressed bed squeezed at one end, with a noisy fridge (with a glass door and light on permanently. The wifi didn't work, the bedside lamp didn't work, the light on the wall in the bathroom didn't work, and the shower was similar to something you'd find in a campsite in terms of pressure. It was noisy both from the outside and from the inside, I could hear every time any of the other guests moved around in the room opposite or above. There were no staff on site, and I wasn't going to leave my luggage behind the empty reception desk in the morning. I can find no positives about my stay - I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and would never stay here again, and it was hugely overpriced for what was offered.

We couldn’t stay as the whole building had a terrible smell, room was so filthy, carpets discussing, bed hard and horrible and all the furniture had stains. I tried to contact hotels . Com to get a refund as the hotel said that’s what we had to do and I’ve had no response be e yet.

Parking was mis-advertised. The hotel explained this is not their issue, and that Hotels.com are responsible for the mis-advertising. The only hotel within 2 miles advertising "Convenient and secure on-site parking". The rooms at the Grand Hotel were only £40 per night more, but they didn't guarantee on-site parking, so I opted for the only hotel which did. My entire decision to stay here was based on secure parking. A quick check of Street View, and I could see a gate with secure parking behind. On arrival, I discovered there is no parking whatsoever. The only option they have is to buy vouchers to park on the street (ie: the same as every other hotel in Brighton centre), apparently the secure parking is for permanent residents only, not hotel guests. The room was tired and dusty, but to be honest that would have been fine if I could have parked as advertised. The people were very friendly, and need to contact Hotels.com urgently to have their advertisement made legal! The friendly chap didn't seem bothered though, and doesn't seem to recognise the importance of this. I've checked the advert today and it is still making the same false claim. I will not ask VISA to refund my charge, as my car was undamaged on the roadside, but I would have refused payment to VISA if there had been any damage to my car, as the hotel and/or Hotels.com would have been liable and I would have claimed free accommodation as part of the compensation.

The bed was really old, springs were coming out from each side. The springs caused some cuts and scratches on both of our legs. Room was a bit smelly too like damp. Shower had a stench. Toilet sink had cracks inside. People staying right in the next room to us which was less than 10cm apart, were arguing and screaming both nights. Automatic heating came on which meant room got so hot and stuffy, we physically had to step out of the hotel for some fresh air. Wooden laminate floor was dirty. Right outside our room was their personal garden which was a disaster to look out the window from. Didn’t enjoy the stay at all, wasted money. Overall very very disappointing and misleading from the their top reviews. So so upset.

Stayed one night for a gig at the Brighton Pavilion. Parking wasn't easy but they do have permits. Breakfast wasn't available but there's plenty of other options near there. All in all a good place to stay.

it was so comfortable and welcoming. I so sorry if I made a little bit of a mess, I have autism and trauma, which unfortunately I can come in physical ways.

Excellent location for a trip to an event at Brighton Dome (just 10mins away) and stones throw to the beach. Check in is at the pub adjoining. The couple who run the hotel gave us two rooms situated together which was really thoughtful and the rooms were really lovely, bright and spacious. Really enjoyed out stay. I would recommend to make sure you confirm your booking well in advance of your stay.
