Wonderful experience at this beautiful Parador. Room 203 (junior suite) was perfect with separate sitting area and corner balcony with fantastic view. We used the large pool everyday.

I strongly recommend this place. Excellent service, friendly staff, nice location, clean room with amenities. The little thing that made it special is that when they saw that I had to leave very early and that I will miss the included breakfast, they spontaneously offered to prepare a light sandwich with water and fruits, and the sandwich was ready in my room in the evening. Thanks

Very lovely hotel just on the outskirts of town. Easy access to historical Tui and just a short walk over the bridge to Valença.

Nice employees. Rugs and couch in room looked really old.

Lovely setting in old palace with nicely modernized rooms. The pool, however, was NOT easily accessible. It required climbing down (and then up) over 5-stories of garden stairs and then walking 100 yards to the "free-fire zone" pool -- totally in full sun -- where there were no tables, chairs, lounges, nor umbrellas. When we abandoned our effort to take that miserable hike, the staff failed to inform us nor offer to open a "hidden" gate so we could drive down the hill to the pool. It was an extremely hot day and we really wanted a swim. When we later learned of the one other option to get down to the pool, they were closing it and the staff just shrugged and said "oh well". Pool hours were too limited -- 11am until 8 pm -- considering they did not have any staff on duty there. As we found in most Parador hotels, staff are not ready to offer options nor think creatively to solve minor problems. They seem to be on the job just to process you through your stay.

The hotel was classy. The room was big and comfortable. It was a little away from the town center.

The hotel was great except for the fact that we, as a big group could not eat from the menu, as it would have taken too long to prepare the food. We had to settle for what they could offer a group of 17.

The only reason everything wasn't 5 star was the hotel was having an issue with air conditioning in the entire hotel. The staff said they were waiting for maintenance to fix it. The staff was always friendly.

This is my second time there and I love the setting. You have beautiful views of the Minho and can easily walk across to Portugal to explore the fortress. It is a peaceful place.

Perched on the border between Spoain and Portugal, midway between Tuy in Spain and Valenca in Portugal, this is a magical place and the hotel has all the style and courtesy one would expect in a parador. The pool area does need to be smartened up, as there are extensive gardens and they could be made to look much neater. The food was very good.
