Excellent parador in 400 year old monastery high above town. Plenty of parking, staff friendly and helpful, room large and well equipped. Restaurant was superb, great service and very high quality food. Not much to see in Monforte, but a drive through the Sil valley is stunning.

Luxurious stay in former monastery was perfect! Easy, friendly check in, wonderful room and wonderful breakfast. Location can’t be beat. Parking was no problem. Lovely courtyard adjoining the bar. Interesting and beautiful building adjoining a church.

The hotel is situated in a converted historic monastery in a commanding position above the town and is quite unique. My wife and I had a very enjoyable one-night stay here as part of a driving tour of Galicia, finding it very clean and comfortable with good levels of service. The only issue we had was that as my wife is confined to a wheelchair with only one leg, we could only access the hotel via a back tradesman’s entrance and service lift as the disabled lift at the front door was not working, which was very disappointing.

the air condition had to be services, and even then then room was warm. there was no way to have coffee or a toast as you were forced to take the full breakfast and the cafeteria did not open until 11. AM. the restaurant choices were very limited and some foods were no longer available .sad because it's a beautiful place with a great view. the staff was nice and worked hard , but the whole place was under staffed

Old convent in the top of the mountain right next to Monforte de Lemos. The nice town is a short walk downhill. Hotel needs newer tv set, rugs and curtains. Internet was weak in our room at the annex building.

Very nice hotel, lovely old features which felt wonderful. Restaurant service was amazing but the food was not great hubby had a nice piece of veal shin but the suckling pig was slimy, full of fat and the skin was chewy. I sent the skin back and asked for it to be crisped up which came back very dark and charcoaled. It was better but not the best. It was almost like it had been boiled and then put in the oven briefly. Potatoes were barely cooked and only veg was green bell peppers which o don’t eat. Very disappointing. Service and breakfast the first morning was great the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Second day we were a little bit later 8.45 and the restaurant was almost full we were sat right in a corner in the extra room and forgotten about. Had some food from the buffet and our coffee still hadn’t arrived. I noticed another table ask for a pot of coffee and it was served within a few minutes I asked the waiter for coffee and it came out about 4 minutes later. The food arrived and the scrambled eggs were like a broken up omelette and chewy. Went up to get a croissant 3 times before they put some more out but they didn’t put any more pan au chocolates out so make sure you get in early for better service Amazing views and comfortable large rooms. The shower was hot but not very powerful, beds were comfortable and pillows were nice. No coffee and tea in the room. Gym isn’t very good and we didn’t bother with the pool as it was outside and didn’t stop raining

I liked the serene atmosphere at this hotel. Very quiet and relaxed. Amazing views from our room. It was a bit out of town but the Cafe on site was great. The rooms were warm but bathrooms are a bit dated but fully functional. Montfort is a lovely town close to the river Sil national parks.

Amazing location and great experience. Are at the hotel, could not fault the food. Check out is 12 noon but house keeping let themselves into the room at 10.15 which took us by surprise! Overall had a wonderful stay

Astonishing building and interior. Luxurious accommodation with incredible views. Opulent decor to a very high standard. However, there was zero room information and no one to tell you about the restaurants or their opening times. We had breakfast and an evening meal in the restaurant which were both superb. The service in the restaurant and the beautiful open courtyard left a lot to be desired. As overseas tourists we certainly felt that we were treated less attentively then Spaniards. This somewhat tarnished our stay which would have otherwise been 5 star. Such a shame.

A wonderful stay in a castle…close to town and wineries…only issue is restaurant onsite-I recommend planning meals way ahead of arrival…dining-room is not special, food was ok-but the restaurants in the town Meson JM and the dinner at O Grelo-perfect!

We were very lucky to have been able to stay in this amazing parador during the Covid pandemic. We were well looked after and had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant.
