This is a quirky, convenient, funky place, more like an airbnb than a regular one. The good: friendly owner, great art on all the walls, huge room, comfortable bed, big kitchen for guest use. Nice selection of breakfast foods for continental bkfst: coffee, jam, butter, toast. The negative: room key is very difficult to work: get the locks changed!. Cable TV only got one channel if any at all. Cleanliness could be improved. Ceiling fan was coming away from ceiling -- fortunately it was not over the bed! Toaster button came off in our hand. These last 2 are surely fire code violations, as were the electric cord under the rug in the downstairs living room. All in all, a pleasant stay, but if you want daily housekeeping and standard fixtures, don't stay here.

If you are looking for a home sweet home feel in the Big Apple then this is an option to consider. Owner of B&B and son are friendly and have things in place for you to go in/out as you please. Subway station is two minute walk where you can jump on the Q line to get right into lower Manhattan. There was a loaf of bread, carton of eggs, butter and water in the fridge for self preparations of breakfast. Access to kitchen was nice. Prospect Park across the street and lovely to escape from city sights. If you enjoy the service and cleanliness standards of major brand hotels then this is not the right fit for you. It was great for us and we would return.

We were in Brooklyn for some special events and we choose this location because of its proximity to the places we had to be. The place was gorgeous 100+ year old multi-story restored facility. Most of the inside was original. We were VERY Disappointed to be told they would not permit our registered Service Animal, so we had to make last minute changes that made the trip something less than it could have been. I suggest they establish their own requirements, but to have refused a handbag carried 13# animal, just doesn't seem right.

This is a very nice, spacious, older property with a terrific location. You do not get breakfast made for you- food was provided for you to cook and clean yourself. The price was a good value.

Parking was limited (as is in all of NYC). Breakfast was sparce, but we had wanted to check out a couple local eateries anyway. Our room was huge, clean, and interestingly decorated with lots of artwork. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay!

The breakfast consisted of coffee and an (old) loaf of rye bread. We had to buy cereal and milk. The lock on the door was defective and we were locked out twice. The TV wasn’t working well. Would not recommend this place.

This early 1900’s home is unique with high ceilings, moldings, architectural elements, bay windows. The owner is an artist and has filled the walls with his paintings and other’s original work. Just across the street from Prospect Park, we were immersed in the diversity of Lefferts Garden area of Brooklyn. As this is not a modern bed and breakfast, your bathroom is accessed from the hall and the staircase is open leading to guest rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor. There is a private kitchen available for your use on each floor. We loved the feeling of staying in a home of this vintage. While this may not be the type of accommodation for everyone, we are thrilled we found Parkside Bed and Breakfast. Thanks to Jon for sharing your home! We look forward to our next visit and seeing you again.

A very lovely place to stay! Clean and bright with good amenities and kind service. Great location, near public transport, the zoo and botanical gardens and right across beautiful Prospect Park. Nice to have the whole third floor, complete with private kitchen, bath and two bedrooms. Beautiful, original artwork line the walls, making it especially enjoyable. The owners were very kind, helpful and accommodating.
