The hotel is ideally located in a quiet street and the parking was helpful. The view from the windows was a bonus, I could actually hear the waves. The room size was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of wardrobe & cupboard space, bright and airy and a fan provided which was useful. Bed was comfortable and staff in reception were really kind & helpful. One small slightly annoying factor was an air-lock or similar in upper room’s water system which did make a noise. Notwithstanding this I would definitely stay again.

Renovations are planned so we knew what to expect. Very dated but lovely old building. Staff were great and did their best. Great breakfast and comfy bed. Our stay a bit uncomfortable due to extreme heat. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.

Had a one night stay, lovely hotel, with the most helpful and pleasant staff. Breakfast was great and the service first class. Will definitely be returning.

Excellent staff. Lovely room and decor. Heat wave when I visited Lovely to see a fan in the room when I entered 😀 Unfortunately they have limited parking 😕 and had to pay for my car space. Wifi not so good.

Good location. Property needs updating. Staff are the best & nicest staff . Breakfast needs 2 more staff & a bus boy to keep tables clean for customers.

Very nice hotel, staff nice

The location is great and the views are stunning. Generally a little tired and could do with renovation. Street parking was sparse and spent a lot of time driving up and down trying to find a space. No air conditioning in the room wasn’t ideal, given the heatwave we are experiencing in the UK. Given my stay was midweek it would have been nice to have breakfast before heading off to work, however breakfast wasn’t served until after 07:30

The hotel location is excellent for access to town and beach. Not the hotels fault but the parking situation around the beach access areas are not good. Even finding a place is virtually impossible and if you do you are restricted to 3 hrs max.

A very good little hotel.

Staff were so friendly and helpful a credit to the hotel. The hotel is a lovely building and had everything you needed for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was good, had a selection of cereal, pastries, fruit and yoghurt as well as a full cooked breakfast. Hotel was really busy with guests but nothing was to much trouble for the staff & not a lot of noise from other guests. Would recommend you book a parking space at the hotel which are limited as parking on the road outside the hotel is busy, but the staff did tell us that there is a pay & display carpark down the road at the Imperial hotel, which didn't have to use as we luckily found parking on the road. Beach is a 5 minute walk away & there are a variety of places to eat on the sea front. All in all I would recommend a visit to The Royal Beacon hotel, so relaxing, staff friendly & convenient area

It was better than expected for tge price

Hotel is very tired looking and our room had very poor ventilation.the bathroom window was screwed shut because it was falling apart and the bedroom window had a limited opening.We were unlucky to be on holiday when the heat wave was at its worst.

Great location, a literal two minute walk to the beach or the town itself. The room was presented decorative to our 10 year anniversary, compliments to the staff going the extra mile. Overall the room was very good, hygienic and perfect for a place to rest and recover from the days events. Our only minor observation was a faulty shower tap making it difficult to adjust the temperatures of the water and a window that was in a set position. This was challenging as it was a warm evening and we couldn’t open the window anymore than 10inches for a fresh breeze. Would recommend and definitely won’t be the last time we would visit the hotel if we were that way.

Couldn't have a shower as the shower didn't work properly, draining away! Breakfast was very good!

Pleasant stay

Great view from the room over the bay.breakfast was good and staff friendly. The hotel is "ageing" so you can expect little issues however i was absolutely disgusted to find pubic hairs in and outside the bath, broken metal shower (dripped) and the back of toilet was leaking. Ive actually taken photos ( timed) if disputed. On leaving i mentioned it receptionist said she would make a note.she also asked for my breakfast payment .....id actually paid cash on check in the night before which concerned me made me feel uneasy tbh I was recommended this hotel by friends in exeter ....they are disappointed. As i say staff friendly breakfast good view fantastic bed comfortable. Bathroom let the whole experience down ....

Friendly helpful staff. Spacious room. Just one criticism in the bathroom. It would be helpful to have a grab rail in the bath/shower for senior guests comfort and safety.
