This hotel sits on a hill and you have to walk down about a quarter of a mile at a 33° incline. If you are over 35 years old you should not attempt it. It’s a very terrible location and please make sure you tell people that it is such a steep walk, it’s almost unbelievable cab drivers won’t come up all the time

The pool bar wasn't open. It was run down. Staff were not helpful. I really hated being there.

Great property but needed updating as the shower was almost falling apart in our unit. Also the huge hill to the property made access difficult but the free bus was a plus, however there was one day it just didn't run and there was just a note on the door without explanation. I understand low season but more communication would be better.

Our 2 bed, 2 bathroom apartment was very spacious and on first glance we were very pleased. Had a spa bath on the balcony and a great sea view. On closer inspection there were a few issues. The bathrooms had a strange unpleasant smell, as did the kitchen sink. The chrome around base of the shower was filthy and rusty. Plenty of cooking equipment such as sauce pans and utensils etc but a bit short on crockery- we only had one teaspoon and 2 plates and thick plastic glasses. As far as amenities go... the advertised bar was not open at all ( closes in low season apparently!). The pool area was nice, but had very limited seating and was in total shade after midday. There is a very steep (though quite short) slope to the apartments. You need to be fairly able to do this every time you leave and return. There is a free shuttle van which we used quite frequently. Operates 9 to 6 most days Takes you and picks up from supermarket and beach. To get to restaurants etc. had to walk along and cross over a very busy and dangerous 4 lane road with no paths and no safe crossing place. But once done this some nice restaurants along the sea front.

Overall was good, just realised that we have to paid for the electricity fee (which is quite expensive) when we check out. It should be mentioned when we booked it.

We arrived morning before Office opened but our key was at the Office entrance with our name & apartment number on. A lady was there to assist us with our luggage & took us to our apartment. We already had great 1st impression of the stunning refreshing clean pool area (which we spend a lot of swims & night swims in-which is beautifully lit up at night). The apartment was clean & cool (from aircon-since ridiculously hot & humid outside). The bedrooms had fresh crisp linen (a huge plus for me since very fussy person). The kitchen & lounge was clean & tidy. Good kitchen facilities (a washing machine & dish washer would have been a bonus). Once a week the apartment is completely cleaned & fresh bath & swim towels are given. The vacuum cleaner included was a great for a quick clean of the beach sand & kids crumbs etc. We had a beautiful view of the Andaman Sea (Apartment A25) & a Jacuzzi on the Balcony with romantic Lights that change colour. Overall we were very happy with our stay & were comfortable. however from all the reviews from before we booked the apartment the Hill is no joke, but thank goodness we are very Fit & enjoyed the work out & then looked forward to jumping into the refreshing pool straight after. Even our 8 half year old son managed the hill (we had to carry our 4 year old son though on top of all the beach bags or 9ltr bottles of water at a time). the family mart just at the bottom of the hill across the road sold 6 x 1.5Ltr Bottle Water for only THB60.

Nice self contained apartments with excellent ocean views over the town of Karon from its hilltop location. Short walk to shops and restaurants but with a very steep driveway to walk back up or down so take the stairs.

This was my first time in Phuket with the whole family so it was important that everything went according to plan. Well when we checked into the Sunset Plaza we were more than delighted with the size and comfort of the apartment. With two swimming pools to choose from it catered for all, young and old. The staff are amazing, you are always greeted by a friendly smile and nothing is a bother for them. We spent a lot of time on the balcony absorbing the fantastic ocean views and with the beach so close it was ideal for that morning dip in the ocean. The only negative comment if it is negative is that the driveway up to the Sunset Plaza if quiet steep. We walked up that driveway every day, good for losing weight but a killer if you are walking up it after a big meal. Over all our 8 day stay at the Sunset Plaza was extremely enjoyable and we are looking forward to coming back to it again next year. Thanking you all in advance Tony King

On the top of hill it was nice view facing to sea,far from beach, but after 8 PM no transport, Micro Oven was not working, Room Lock was not working, Safe was not ok, no cleaning person available, over all it was not so bad but expectation was more , since it was a family tour. over all I enjoyed the location but family was"nt, because walk on the top of hill after whole day visit was so hard.

I had a great stay. Apartment was good with great views but a horrible steep walk from the road. The courtesy van was ok, but after 6 would have to get tuk tuk to drive up the steep driveway. Food was always easy to find and the beach wasn't too far to walk. Plenty of shops to buy clothes and many many massage shops. I had the company of a nice Thai girl who was always willing to show me around. I think the room isnt cleaned unless you specifically ask for this. The power was out in all rooms for 3 hours and it was hard without the aircon for that time. I don't think I would have enjoyed it without my Thai friend to help with the language. I rate this place 7 out of 10

Apartment room was clean with good facilities. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with great view of the sea. Hotel provided shuttle service down to Family Mart which was helpful as the walk to and from the hotel was steep. Hotel location was ok.

Sunset Plaza is close to the beach, being located on a steep hill makes it almost vital to rent a vehicle. There's a shuttle bus that takes guests down the hill from 9 to 12 and up the hill from 1 to 6. Management company who takes care of rental properties is slow to react of any of guests' needs, but they do eventually react if you call. This also included calls requesting cleaning. The apartment we stayed in was in OK shape, however far from spotless, plenty of dust, jacuzzi is unusable due to stain and grime, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months or years. For basic need of large group of people it is ok. It had reasonably well sized rooms, very nice ocean view from the balcony. The condo has 2 pools, which are clean and pleasant to use. You will find that there's not too many people to assist you/any customer service on weekends. There's not enough parking for everyone, so sometimes you will find your car blocked in the morning.

We stayed 3 nights at Sunset Plaza Penthouse unit in late Dec'13. No doubt the unit has very nice view but both air-con in the living room were not cold at all and we could feel warm air instead! Imagine with the afternoon sun shinning strongly into the all-glass living room, we were like staying in an OVEN!! We specially paid high price and booked this unit during Xmas period mainly for the season celebration in a great view Penthouse and with the fun of Jacuzzi. In the end, we did not enjoy the sunset view due to the the hot living room and hence we had to escape to the Jacuzzi area but with great disappointment, the Jacuzzi was not working either!! In addition, the strong sewage smell from all the toilets that spread into the bedrooms was just disgusting!! Despite our complains to the Management and their promises to fix the air-con and Jacuzzi before we leave, they failed to keep their promises by the time we check-out!! We really felt cheated after paying such a high price for the bad experience of our stay!!!

Loved the spaciousness of the room but felt the unit needed some TLC. Extremely steep hill but can get Taxi's to take you up the hill at little cost. Internet was on and off but overall great, quiet area and yet close enough to walk to most things.

We (8 of us) stayed in the 3br penthouse and had an awesome time, the queen beds were comfortable and the view was to die for! The room was thoroughly cleaned every 2nd or 3rd day. One of the pools had an awesome view and we spent most of our pool time there, the gym is small but had most the equipment required. As mentioned in previous reviews the hill is a killer!! but the shuttle was there for most of the time and the hill does come handy when you need to sober up. Location is good for families but not for singles, we spent most of our time in Patong as thats where the action is, taxis/tuc tucs are $10-15 to Patong from sunset plaza which is not too bad. We enjoyed our stay here and will miss the sunsets, best view from the penthouse!

My whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Phuket and at the Sunset Plaza. The hotel provided a comfortable and relaxing place to call home while we were away. The room was everything we had hoped for and the facilities such as the pool and gym got plenty of use by all. The view out to the sea and the sunsets were amazing and provided us a welcome and relaxing retreat. Whilst the step driveway provided some challenges it was not unbearable and with the friendly assistance of the resident van driver and local tuk tuks thankfully we didn't need to do the climb ourselves too often.

We booked 2 x 1 brm condo's. One with 2 x single beds (for 19yo son & 17 yo old duaghter. Got 1x king size bed. Mentioned it at checkout but they advised that they had no notification and nothing changed. We also booked late check out, but were requested to check out by midday. Fortunately the managers allowed us to have another room to stay in until our 6pm pick-up for the airport. We had already been alerted to the steep walk up the driveway to our rooms. Courtesy bus down the hill from 9am - 1pm. And up the hill (which you will be gratefull for) from 1pm to 6pm. But only down to or upto either end of the driveway.
