Really good experience, near of the beach and good options for food

This is a relatively basic hotel but very clean and the staff are excellent. Friendly and responsive. Pool is great snd restaurant was fine. Excellent, central lication.

The hotel is one street back from the Malecon and is a great base for exploring. We booked the penthouse suite which was WELL worth the money, with a hot tub, full outdoor cooking set up, air conditioning and full kitchen with laundry. The staff were friendly, fun and welcoming. Taxis are easy to find, often parked right across the street. The hotel restaurant, CoExist, has beautiful coffees and desserts. It was closed on the Monday we visited or we would have eaten there more. Despite the hotel being right in the middle of the action, the room was quiet and we had great sleeps. I can't think of a single downside of this property.

I really enjoyed the stay, calm and great price

Headlines - this is a great location - one block off the Malicon. The hotel is older but mostly well maintained. It’s very clean and we saw how they cleaned a room between guests! It was extensive. The water pressure in the shower was great and the water was hot when needed! Things to be aware of - the wifi can be slow. The staff suggested I try a different room’s network and after a couple of tries I found one that was decent. The pool area is completely assigned to restaurant seating so you need to sit further down in the courtyard. This area seems to be not in main use anymore as there is maintenance items stored here. We did not care but some people might. The beds are firm. I found the pillows really flattened out. The staff were so pleasant and accommodating - we felt very well cared for during our stay. If you are OK with a basic room and love being in the center of everything, then this is good value!

Convenience walkable to Malecon and Vallarta Downtown Centro.

The staff was amazing, kind, friendly and patient. It's a simple hotel but it's right where you want to be near the beach, Malecon and zona romantic. Ac seemed to be leaking in the ceiling and room was musty at the end of the week.

I had another enjoyable stay at this property. It's very convenient for the activities and food options I'm looking for. Hotel is clean and comfortable (but I wish the pillows were firmer!) Restaurant on premises is good as well. No issues during my time at the hotel.

Overall a great location to experience the malecon and surrounding areas.

This was the absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. From the minute I arrived I was treated like garbage. The staff ( especially the manager ) were extremely rude, they would not allow a guest to visit me and the air conditioning unit leaked a puddle on my floor causing me to slip and fall. The hotel did not even apologize. I had to change hotels mid week and this ruined my entire trip. Expedia was not helpful whatsoever either. The 2 passed the buck back and forth and left me to fend for myself. This hotel treated all the white people the same way I met 2 other couples who were disgusted at how they were treated also. They accused us of smoking in our rooms when we absolutely did not. Then when we complained they threatened to have us arrested. Absolutely not a good experience. The hotel ruined my trip and did not care at all that I fell and could have been seriously injured.. never stay here never ever ever stay at this hotel. The loft Malecon up the street will take good care of you they were amazing to me once I got moved. But the rio malecon is absolutely horrendous in how they treat their guests

the staff was wonderful. the rooms were basic but clean. there no is area to really sit around the pool. we were also told that we were not allowed to visit in our rooms though we were all guests. a family member had the penthouse and we were told we could not visit though we were all paying guests and all together we had rented 5 rooms. when looking at policy it states visitors but we were all guests of the hotel

Walkable to the shops, restaurants, beach, great location and wonderful staff, they were super friendly and helpful.

The Hotel is clean and very nice! The location is perfect. The cleaning staff are wonderful. You have to remember though, that this is Mexico. It is noisy with outside car traffic. They are not nearly as accomodating as hotels in the US or Canada. The lady at the front desk loved to say No. Can we have an extra key? Can we have an extra hand towel? Can we be on the first floor? No. Can we have a room with 2 single beds? Yes, for $150 more. You get the picture. Overall, I know what to expect, and, I will stay here again!

Hotel Rio never disappoints. Very convenient location . Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is great . We have stayed here many times .
