I stayed for my Guangzhou trip from Nov 30 - Oct 5, 2018. I arrived on Nov 30 and was directed to room 703 of South Tower. The hallway was dim and had problems with the ceiling and walls but it was not really a concern since I was expecting a clean unit since based on the rating that this should be 3 stars out of 5 but I was disgusted to see my unit as an old, dirty unit. Walls have torn paints and wallpapers, floors have cigarette burns all over, the bed is horrible it smelled of cigarette even under the sheets. I had to rest a bit since it was a morning flight, as I sat on the bed I immediately felt small creeping insects running through my body. I assume they have dust mite problems. After a few moments I went down the concierge and complained about my unit, as I was in the middle of explaining my problem he cut me politely and immediately suggested I move to room 705 which is much better according to him. So I took it since according to him it's the last available unit in the building at the time. True enough it is a little bit better than 703 but the same problem holds true and more. The kitchen sink has a leak on its ceiling, from the unit above. It dripped the following day causing a puddle on the countertop. Which is gross considering that the leak is of waste water. The only good thing about the unit is that the air-conditioning system is running good. The whole room had busted light, the comfort room is dark since only the sink side had lights. The bed still has mite problems, while sleeping you can really feel something creeping on your skin but you can not see it. My sister had bite marks on her legs since day 1. Overall it is not a good place to be while abroad. I hope the unit owners will be informed about this to fix the problem because it is just basic hygiene and room cleanliness. In photos both rooms 703 and 705 of South Tower is photogenic, but in actuality the flooring, walls and ceiling really needs renovation. Also the beds need to be replaced.
