This hotel is a scam. Nobody was waiting for us, no clean rooms were available. Hotel was dirty. Owner said the manager had left the day before hence the chaos. We moved to another hotel and the manager said he would not charge us. Turns out Expedia now says the owner did not approve a refund - we have been robbed. Avoid at all costs.

Hotel was in extremely dirty conditions; and rooms were not ready. There was trash and bottles of beer in the rooms. No staff available except for the owner who was very apologetic. We did not feel safe or comfortable staying there and had to look for another hotel. Unfortunately hotels can be very expensive if reservations are not made in advance. I spent COL$575.000 (US$197). I expect Expedia to not only refund me for the hotel del parque fees, but also something (points, refund) for the incremental expenses that I had to incur. Pictures of hotel del parque when we arrived for check in are available if you need them.

Felipe was an amazing host. He was always helpful and available to answer any questions. The room was available early and clean. The shower door might need a better cleaning, but other than that everything was very good.

More like a home stay. Booked 2 double rooms. One of the rooms was a dorm style room with dirty linen. Had to go get another room at another hotel that was suitable. Orbitz failed to refund the transaction. Will not be returning.

Stayed here for 2 nights and the owner is great! He is very kind, laid back and generous. However, the cleanliness of the facility is only average. The floors seemed to not be very clean and there were little details like the trash wasn't taken out when we arrived. However, there is a cool patio space with lots of artwork. The best part for me was how nice the owner was. He offered us free breakfast and did our laundry for free! It's a good place to stay if you are looking for something cheap next that is right on a central street where there are nice restaurant, travel agencies and the port near by.

It started bad: there was no room for us despite of paid reservation. After 2 hours of frantic efforts, we got a room, thanks to courtesy of other guests. As compensation for nervous moments, we got free breakfast - a nice gesture. This is small hotel, well located in heart of Santa Marta. Our room was basic but OK, with A/C. Lobby area needs a bit of clean up.

To start I walked by the hotel various times looking for it. The only sign visible on the building read Hotel. Once we realized that it was our hotel the staff that greeted us had us waiting at his drisk for at least 20 minutes while he fielded a couple of phone calls. I was tempted to call him from my cellular in order to get faster service. Once he finally attended us we entered a windowless closed in room with a television on at full volume. In spite of having prepaid we left to find a more uplifting place to spend the night. I was fooled by the high ratings on Bookings and want that others have another point of view in order to avoid getting lured into a disappointing experience.

The owner of the hotel showed me around, went together to Taganga beach, a 10 minute ride on the bus. While in Santa Marta I got stomach pains and the owner took me to a pharmacy nearby where I got proper medications. Very nice and helpful people!

We stayed here for 12 nights. What an amazing place to spend your Santa Marta days! Felipe, the owner, is a gem! He is ready to help you out with everything, from ordering food to calling a doctor (a couple staying there had food poisoning after dining in the city and Felipe called the doctor, who came at the hotel!). The place is ideally located: downtown, next (literally!) to Exito, a big super market, and 5 min. walk from the beach (the Bahia), while the Parque de los Novios is 50 m. away with all the restaurants and nice bars. Good internet wifi connection is available to everyone for free, while the rooms are spacious and tidy. Amazing hotel - will return when in Santa Marta again without any second thoughts.

Very good hotel in central santa marta, right next to all the tourist bars and restaurants. Room was very comfortable for our first night stay in colombia. Slept very well. It is noisy next to the bars but we didn't hear the music over the air conditioning. We found it secure and clean, and the man on reception couldn't have been nicer, he was great.

As a budget traveler your expectations for a $50 a night aren't extreme. However most hotels in this price range, especially in a place like Colombia, should have running water, flushing toilets and functional internet. Though though this hotel has charm and is in a great location, it's clear that they are in progress and inconsistent. While the owner and staff were helpful (which we were grateful for) something is amiss in or around the hotel's infrastructure and management. Water pressure was extremely bad the first night and the sink in the bathroom did not work correctly. We were given a pitcher of murky water to use for the night. The next morning we were told that there was a smaller room available for us. They moved our things and the new room was cozy though a little dirty. That night there was a problem with the internet ISP and it continued through the rest of the stay. The evening of our last day the toilet stopped flushing in the bathroom and water pressure was a problem again. The owner assured us that this was a problem caused by bad infrastructure in the city center. Even at a budget price, the hotel did not deliver on some of the basic necessities. This hotel had very high reviews and it was challenging to understand the disparity. Having stayed in budget hotels around the world, this one is definitely near the bottom of my list.

The location of the hotel could be better--it's surrounded by nightclubs and cafes blaring loud music. It may not be the most comfortable walking area of the town. However, the hotel overall is great. Bathroom is clean, albeit no hot water (Santa Marta smaller hotels rarely have hot water). Beds are comfortable and WiFi is sufficiently fast. Felipe, the owner, is also super nice, making himself available to help with anything. He also served us all complimentary breakfast in the morning!

My stay in this little hotel was very pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the staff is great, very friendly and ready to help with anything, including giving useful information and laundry service for (small fee). Felipe, the owner, is very nice and friendly, tool. Overall, I recommend this little hotel to all.
