When we arrived the hotel, there was no one to help us to send the luggage over to the room, which is away from the main building. and no clear instruction on the wifi and facilities and we had to call to the counter to find out. all the rest are quite good.

The hotel is located close to the airport and the city center. Staff are helpful but they do not speak English. Therefore do your homework and bring along with you the chinese character wording for the places you want to visit. It's easy to get a metered taxi BUT the city is plagued by horrendous traffic jams. Therefore factor in an hour for your journey. The taxi fare starts at RMB8 and its about RNB1.9 for every km traveled. If you get stuck in a jam you may pay 2 or 3 times more but the taxi drivers will try their best to take you by the nearest route. The people are friendly and they are nice to visitors. To souvenir hunters whom I know most Malaysians are, Jinli street is your best bet. The prices are reasonable and no haggling is required - so head towards there before you leave and get everything you need. The Panda Breeding Research Centre is a must see - try not to rush through as it has a huge area that you get enjoy a wonderful day out - Remember to visit the Giant Pandas in enclosure 1 and 2 which are normally bypassed by those who are there by tour. The souvenirs here are also very reasonable. Chengdu is a city which you can travel without a tour group even if you are not conversant in Mandarin. We were there for four days and we only did about 10 percent. Best months to visit is March to Sept. Peak periods are in June. The town is pleasant and safe.

Noisy room, bathroom so-so, position far from downtown, but close to subway. Breakfast average.
