Evening menu didn’t change, limited choice. Air con struggled with high ceiling to room. Staff very efficient and friendly. Good English spoken.

Hotel staff speak English, the restaurant provides fine dining. The hotel itself is like staying in an art gallery. Even our room had original paintings and chandeliers. The same family has owned this former banana plantation since the 1600’s and built up their art collection since then. The property even has a family chapel that staff will open for you which is filled with artwork. Courtyard and pool area is a lush tropical garden and is very idyllic. Being in the freshwater pool while looking at the garden flowers is very relaxing. The Staff were attentive and anticipated my needs. For example, the front desk manager wrapped my leftover pizza from a local restaurant and delivered it to my room. At breakfast my son and I were provided with cafe con leche without being asked. The hotel is in Tazacorte which is an authentic Spanish town - not touristy at all. Restaurant servers may speak some English but do not expect fluency. There are many dining options and a hypermarket within easy walking distance. I have stayed in many fine hotels but this one would be one of my top recommendations.

We stayed 15 nights in a Junior Suite. The room was wonderful, large bedroom and en-suite, clean, air conditioned with very original Spanish design and art works. In fact the whole hotel was full of antiques as the house and now hotel has been in the same family for centuries. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, of high quality. We didn’t dine, but there is a full restaurant for those who wish. Locally within a 3-5 min walk there are plenty of bars / eating places at reasonable prices. These are very Spanish, full of locals and not a tourist trap. The pool was a reasonable size and never crowded, the gardens are second to none and the whole hotel, being an ex plantation is set around banana plant fields. It is very secluded. The staff are second to none, we have had good service over the years and this is up there among the best. They just did it naturally it did’t feel forced in any way and as such made the stay more like stopping at a friends than a hotel. LaPalma in general is very rural; it is not Tenerife and a hire car is pretty essential to get around. We got the impression that the hotel, whilst being in the opposite side to the capital, is on the sunny side. It’s a small island so getting anywhere is no more than about a half hour drive. I suppose the bottom line is, would we recommend the hotel to others: most certainly.

It was unique. A stunningly beautiful traditional house furnished with priceless antiques, the garden a tropical paradise. Our every need had been anticipated and provided for. Each day was a new discovery. Every member of staff was welcoming, smiling and charming, and they all spoke English. There was nothing to dislike. Highly recommended. A very special place.

A great find in the Canaries. Perhaps the signage in the town directing to the hotel could be better.

Liked everything. All as expected. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be a benefit. The bed was quite creaky which woke us up every time one of us moved!

A lovely hotel with beautiful touches. The situation is great with good access to local services and some nice walks. The service would have been improved if the staff had reset tables at breakfast when other guests left. The level of detail to cleaning was not as I would expect of this standard of hotel. The domestic water supply was only warm, not hot, at any time, day or night. We unfortunately could not try the, reportedly, excellent food in the restaurant because it was fully booked with no room for residents.

Brilliant hotel! Tasteful throughout. Interesting antiques and artefacts combine with tasteful luxury, modern amenities, beautiful gardens and discreet but friendly service. Perfect. We enjoyed the Bath House and pool area. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Only thing we missed was tea and coffee making facilities in the room - but maybe that's a peculiar British thing?

As soon as you entered this hotel you knew you were somewhere special. From start to finish this hotel was fantastic.Complete relaxation, sublime food and excellent friendly staff. Paulo who is the restaurant manageress was very professional and ran a very tight ship and therefore made the experience all the more enjoyable. From general manager to the maids cleaning the rooms, they could not do more for you.. The jacuzzi in the Bath House and the sauna plus treatments were great; just the trick for complete relaxation.

Excellent food and service, but our 'superior' room was not big and had no outlook other than onto dense vegetation. Tazacorte is on the west side of the island where the weather is generally better. But it is not one of the loveliest parts of the island and the environs of the hotel are dominated by unrelieved banana plantations.

The Hotel was very welcoming, a delightful old building stocked with antique furniture and artwork. Unfortunately there was no comfortable seat in the bedroom, and the breakfast space was cramped and rather uncomfortable. It could do with re-opening a roped-off parking area - without this it was rather haphazard on adjacent roads. The garden and pool area were delightful. The staff were uniformly helpful, pleasant and multilingual. The hotel, being an old Hacienda, was surrounded by 8-foot high walls, so no external view from the ground floor, including the small outside breakfast area. For the comfort level and facilities provided at this hotel, it was too expensive.
