Stayed here many times over the years with no problems but my recent stay was disappointing woke up at 1am to find my room was full of black flies everywhere on the walls ceiling and in the bed I was horrified ran down to reception to find the lady on the desk very rude and unfriendly saying it was my own fault for opening the window and offered to give me a vacuum cleaner to clean them away I wasn’t impressed and insisted on moving room which was instantly declined saying there was no rooms available still saying it’s my own fault sorry but where was the notice to say do not open windows there wasn’t any nor any fly screens on the windows for a 4 star hotel this was disgusting I argued my point and said I would lodge a complaint with management so the lady then offered me a new room which I moved myself to also the spa pool is like a public swimming baths with kids jumping in the pool and jacuzzi it’s open to the public for swimming lessons not just hotel guests so don’t go here for relaxation as advertised as there isn’t any .

Great location and amenities

The hotel is alright, however their key-cards constantly de-magnitise. The receptionist tried to make it my problem. Aparently it is my fault that I have phone in one pocket and airpods in another pocket. Their super-duper fragile keys can’t be next to radio emmiters. They should go back to metallic keys, if they are unable to buy cards that don’t lose their charge when next to bluetooth earphones.

On arrival we could not see anyone at the car park entrance so went underground to park. A man then followed us down and was very rude, demanding to know what we were doing. He eventually accepted that we were staying in the hotel but then told my husband to not take up 2 spaces (one tyre was on the yellow parking line but was next to a no-parking zone). Reception was chilly, no smile or pleasant greeting. Don't get me started on the lifts! I applaud having to use an electronic card to access the lift and the room but my husband had to go to reception 4 times to have it "re-programmed" as it would not operate the lift and then, this morning prior to leaving, the card would not open the room door. As for breakfast...if we had eaten towards the end of service I could understand but we ate within an hour of the start of service hoping to enjoy a hot breakfast. Bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, fried egg, scrambled egg all stone cold, not just luke warm, cold! Fortunately the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure, however bath towels would only have wrapped around a child or size zero model. The staff look miserable, only saw two smiles during our entire visit. We will not stay there again, which is a shame as the location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the town.

Tall old Soviet hotel but beautiful new interior. Rooms are very good and modern, high standard of finish. Overall great stay.

Rooms are clean, the view from 11th floor is amazing. Beds are comfortable. The hotel itself is in a prime collection, and the interior very nice! The pool and sauna are great, the only downside about the pool is that it is fairly small, and there are kids swimming lessons going on for over 2 hours. Ability Spa that is downstairs is very convenient, the selection of treatment is great. I had a lovely deep tissue massage, however the masseur managed to scratch my back with her nail leaving marks. The gym is also very nice, loads of different equipment! Service was ok, and higher standard then on the street, however they could be more friendly in advising how to use the lift, the spa etc. We would like to express our thanks to one of the receptionist ladies with glasses that helped us out with the train schedule, and gave us tips and was the only personell that held a conversation with us.
