The property is very dilapidated with dangerously steep and uneven stairs. Not even a bedside light on one side of the double bed. Drawers with no handles. All very scruffy. Not enough bedding. No duvet.Very expensive for such poor facilities.

Cheap and … scabby very old fashioned I know it’s an old building but doesn’t mean that everything inside has to be decade's old Was like going back to the 60’s but not in a nice way Everything in the room was old and tired (Even us by the morning) Didn’t get much sleep in the old creeky bed

Old but interesting building decently looked after. Excellent breakfast and comfortable room made for an enjoyable stay right in the middle of a traditional Englsh market town.

I had booked an economy double room. On arrival, after having to ring to find out how to get to the onsite parking, I was directed to the only ground floor room or, as I called it, a dungeon. There were no drawers, apart from a tiny one under each bedside table; the bedside tables were so small the tea tray was on one but they had to put the kettle underneath it; no wardrobe, just some hooks on the door; only a 4ft bed; cushion that should have been on pillows was just thrown on the floor. Very old fittings, marks on the bedside tables, and no space on the floor to put my small suitcase if I wanted to use the bed. The bathroom however was fine, although it was only a shower in a room with plenty of space for a bath. I went to reception to complain and I'll give them their due, they moved me to a much nicer room on the 1st floor, with a full sized bed, wardrobe and 2 sets of drawers, and the bathroom even had a bath! But the curtains were thin and let light in all night, not blackouts. Tiny TV. It felt more like I was in a room at a holiday camp to be honest, and definitely not worth the price I paid for it (travelling solo), with no breakfast included (available for an additional amount). I feel this was the worst value for money hotel I have ever stayed in but I should emphasise the staff were lovely. I would definitely never stay here again, and would rather drive the 32 miles home if I had to come to Uttoxeter again (and I dont like driving).

Know it’s Grade II listed but in need of an update. Carpets on stairs and hallways are dirty, threadbare and smells of damp. Room 6 had the windows painted shut resulting in the room feeling like a sweat-box

Hotel is pretty old wonky floors ect no problem I like this it’s character . lady who sign us in very nice. The hotel it self is run down not because it’s old really could do with some loving. Like a new bathroom. The toilet has been broken and Glue back together. And the single bed was very uncomfortable. I thought I was having a room with a double and two singles this was not the case. The room is a good size with kettle ect. No hair dryer. It was ok for a night stay. Simple little things like when leaving the next day the reception was closed I didn’t see where to leave the room key there is a bowl by the door you would think it have a post box near reception or be told where to leave the key.

Let’s start with the bed! Worse nights sleep I’ve ever had. Four poster was not only uncomfortable it felt like it was about to fall apart, ever time you moved it made a noise & moved. Bathroom wasn’t very clean with a broken window ( though they did offer us a different room when we notified them but at this point it was just the window in the bathroom ) once we got back to the room in the evening we couldn’t open any windows & the shower wouldn’t turn off we couldn’t raise this with anyone as there wasn’t any staff on at all.

Excellent location and a beautiful historic building, just a little black mould in the shower in the bathroom that was a little off putting but otherwise fantastic.

The hotel was cold and unfriendly. We are both elderly and had a room in the top of the hotel up very steep stairs when we were clearly the only guests in the hotel. The fact that there was no evening meal was not indicated when we booked on line. We finished up having sandwiches from Tescos. The room was very cold and not warm and welcoming.
