We had a great 3 nights in Leewenbosch. It is a family run business with a real personal feel. The staff are lovely and very much wanting to make your stay positive. The game drives are to the private Amakarla Game reserve. We saw almost all of the big five and had great fun. We met some wonderful people who were also staying. Bring very warm clothing as the game drives are cold. Drivers do provide blankets and poncho's for any rain, but you need jumpers also. The food was perfectly adequate. It is a 3 star guest house which is reflected in the food however the family and service and game drives I would rate as 4/5 star. You have the same game drives at Leewenbosch as you do at other lodges using Amakarla which are 4 and 5 star. The rangers all share their knowledge and sightings so all get to see the animals. The family and rangers are very pro conservation of the animals and pro animal care in their natural environment, which we loved. There was a baby rhino born whilst we were out there, however the rangers did not attempt to find it in order to give mother and baby space and time alone. We found this refreshing. We would definitely consider returning.
