The property was OK! And the fact of solitude was a good thing!

Very noisy, hard to sleep due to guests coming and going late into the night and deliberating on the front veranda, right outside guest rooms, on what the door code was. Very broad mix of clientele.

Very small hostel, most rooms are directly onto lounge or shower areas due to this you do get general noise eg TV, talking, doors slamming. This is between 8am -10pm outside these hours is hostel quiet time. So although good quiet time policy at hostel if you want to read or get away from noise in room, earplugs are needed. Great location to beach few minutes walk. Easy 10 min walk from or to bus station to get back to main Terminal for buses and trains. 10 mins walk to Coles or Aldi. Bunbury very easy to walk around. If using google for directions halve how long it says takes to walk places in general all closer then looks on map. Overall great place if you want to be near beach and walk everywhere. Just a warning only 3 showers, not a problem while I stayed but in busier time would be interesting! Pleasant stay.

Everything OK - But I would have appreciated a heater that actually worked in my room. It got down to 4 degrees C that night. Otherwise all ok

Excellent stay lady told us we all we needed to know, and that we had to be quite after 10pm and if we wanted to watch tv we had to go to the back TV room down stairs Well she went to bed ?? And the rest of the guests ladies only, turned up the tv and talked very loudly until midnight it was very frustrating as our room (10) was a couple of feet away from the TV and we had just got off a train after working all day. we start work at 5am, & had to get up very early to get back on the road again the next morning, And when we got into bed myself and my hubby was attacked by bugs we itched all night, omg and in the shower the drain cover was full of black hair 😱 thank you

Had a one night stay at Dolphin Retreat which was quite enjoyable. Staff were excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. Facilities were all clean and tidy as was our room. The bed was not the most comfortable but for one night was completely fine. The complimentary extras included in our stay were very generous although we didn't have time to take advantage of any!! Would stay again in the future.

Stayed for one night. Staff very pleasant. Non smoking but guests can smoke in area at back of property away from accommodation area. Parking in secured area is a good feature. Good short walking distance to beach and city centre. Clean room, comfortable bed, clean showers, toilets. Games - e.g. billiards - available. Continental breakfast though could have been better organised - kitchen and fridges largely reserved for guests which is a good thing for self-caterers. Ideal for backpackers, single travellers but not aware of double beds, etc for couples. Less suited for families (with children on the journey)

Very small room. You get what you pay for though. Only stayed for one night and didnt spend a lot of time there. Was woken up to a loud argument at 3am with the caretaker kicked another patron out.

I stayed for 13 nights. I had booked a single room. The location of Dolphin Retreat is excellent: three minutes from a wonderful beach and five minutes from shops and restaurants. About half an hour to walk to the wildlife park ang fifteen to the dolphin centre. I would recommend Dolphin Retreat for a stay in Bunbury.

A characteristic building - rooms and toilet facilities very clean and freshly decorated. Good size kitchen with plenty of fridge/freezer space. Very comfortable accommodation.

This site led me to believe I was booking into a hotel/motel, not a backpackers. Those who pay for single bed in shared room are possibly getting a great deal; however I was charged effectively for the whole room; understandable if I had a family but as a single person I really felt ripped off. The only reason I stayed was because I was desperate, everywhere else was full. Car park was full, so parked on street out front (has fee payable after 8:30am) Fellow guests are very friendly and helpful. The site advertises "breakfast included" and when you arrive are told "Breakfast is at 8am" however is really quite meaningless; you are set up to be disappointed, and wished there was never mention of "breakfast".

Maybe we didn't pay enough attention to the website but we were under the impression that this was a hotel/motel not a backpackers hostel with shared facilities. Not suitable for families with young children.
