There are a few of them in Taichung City center, and this one is the second branch near the train station. It's about 10-15 minutes by foot to the station. It's near to the Miyahara and Chun Shui Tang (original store).
I got the last top bunk at the end of room 601, and it was hot there. Ventilation in that room is not good enough. I asked if I could get another bunk or change rooms. They let me change to 603, and it was cooler, but the bunk space is quite small. There was no other available room/bunk to change to, but good thing the guy at the reception (with excellent English) thought about lending me a small fan. It was good enough. The next day, housekeeping brought a stand fan to our room.
Free breakfast is only sweet bread and loaf bread with some jam, peanut butter and chocolate spread, and soup. Free flowing juice, coffee, tea and water all day. I think they put out some chips for snack in the afternoons, too.
There were a couple of vegetarian guests, and they said there's a restaurant around the corner that serves vegetarian food.
Toilets and shower rooms are clean. They provide some disinfecting spray for the toilet seat. The shower rooms could do better with a bit more space.
You can rent bicycles from them for free up to four hours.
